Republicans Bristle At Working During The Holidays
Harry Reid announced today that he may call the Senate back into session after Christmas to vote on outstanding issues such as “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” repeal, the START treaty, and the DREAM Act. Jon Kyl (pictured) is not happy.
“It is impossible to do all of the things that the majority leader laid out without doing — frankly, without disrespecting the institution and without disrespecting one of the two holiest of holidays for Christians and the families of all of the Senate, not just the senators themselves but all of the staff,” Kyl told reporters later Tuesday.
I’ve heard about the “War On Christmas” but the “War on Christmas Vacation”?!? If Jon Kyl doesn’t want to work after December 25, maybe he can make the whole week between Christmas and New Year’s a national holiday. I’m sure business will be good with that. Kyl has to remember that people all over the country have to work that week. Oh wait, I have another idea so Jon Kyl can enjoy his holiday week. Maybe he can support up or down votes on all of that legislation before Christmas.
