Trump ‘voter fraud’ lies – a beard for a national crackdown?

Posted by | January 25, 2017 12:58 | Filed under: Top Stories

It all started Monday, with what even the usually-restrained New York Times called a “lie“:

During a private meeting with congressional leaders on Monday, President Trump asserted that between three million and five million unauthorized immigrants had voted for his Democratic opponent and robbed him of a victory in the national popular vote.

There is no evidence to support the claim, which has been discredited repeatedly by numerous fact-checkers.

That did not stop Sean Spicer, the White House press secretary, from standing by the president’s words on Tuesday during a briefing with reporters at the White House. “As I said, I think the president has believed that for a while based on studies and information he has,” Mr. Spicer said.

It’s starting to look like Trump is using a lie to drive for nothing less than a national voter purge targeting anyone to his left:

[H]e will ask for a “major investigation” into “VOTER FRAUD” (his capitalizations) to determine whether his administration needs to “strengthen up voting procedures,” he announced on Twitter through a series of tweets early Wednesday morning.

Wesley Lowery points out the obvious:

Outdated voter registrations, which appear to make up the scope of the investigation, are a common occurrence, but they in no way prove any voter fraud resulted. Out of date registration records occur because people move, or passed away. For some, this announced investigation was just a “false flag” from Republicans who are hoping to suppress the vote.

There are already solutions to all of the issues Trump is ginning up. For example, Oregon has instituted voting by mail, which can be a very effective way to track and remove out-of-date registrations.

The problem for the hard right is that these solutions nurture more voting.

The solution? Democrats and liberals should steal the issue of outdated voter rolls and promote solutions that increase registration and participation.

‘Nuff said.

Has it occurred to anyone else that the Tangerine-clown simply utters outrageous bullsh*t to distract from the stuff that can impeach him? https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/2bdff199af867070854773190f063afcb361f96df146d4a399ee959403178c81.jpg

I think that’s EXACTLY it, William: he’s trying to distract the people and the media from what he’s doing in the meanwhile.

Each day his bullsh*t mountain gets higher. The tactic of using something more crazy today to distract from yesterdays story will run out at some point.

“…I think the president has believed that for a while…” So now merely believing something for a while makes it true? Kids believe in Santa and the Easter Bunny, but that don’t make them real. Though on second thought, they are both more real than trump.

    The evidence is as follows:
Clinton earned more votes than Trump. Ergo, massive fraud occurred.
Donnie says so, and Sean concurs …. so it must be true.

Trump should just cut to the chase and sign an Executive Order declaring that only registered Republicans are eligible to vote in federal elections.
Because when you get to the core of the GOP’s true motivations, that what all of this massive voter fraud nonsense and continuing calls for Voter ID legislation is really about.
