Trump on track to become the next Nixon?

Posted by | January 23, 2017 12:28 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

Well, the former reality show host shows no interest in following ethics norms, so while it could just blow over, we would not be surprised if this does not turn out well:

Let’s be honest. Conflicts of interest are boring.

The president knows this. In fact, he’s banking on it.

Instead of addressing his conflicts in a meaningful way at his press conference ahead of his inauguration, Trump pointed to a stack of folders behind him. He then turned the press conference over to a lawyer, who talked about Trump’s plans for long enough for viewers to lose interest. It sounded official and complicated, even though it’s an embellished version of his November announcement to turn the business over to his children.

Many condemned Trump’s plan to handle his myriad conflicts of interest as president as wholly inadequate, including the director of the U.S. Office of Government Ethics.

But most likely, Trump will get away with it – for now – and continue to ignore the warnings of government ethics officials, tasked with preventing things from going terribly wrong.

For decades, they’ve been so successful at preventing a major government ethics scandal, Trump’s conflicts of interest now seem academic and even soporific to the average voter. Unfortunately for Trump, his unwillingness to listen makes a disaster much more likely. On the upside, a scandal would at least remind Americans why ethics-based precautions matter.

Conflicts of interest is the left’s answer to Benghazi and emails, except it is verifiable and based in a world of facts, not in an alternate reality with alternate facts.

It’s not going away, ever. It will be in the history of books and an important part of what brought down this administration. It will be a warning to all those that come behind him in the future, conflicts of interest will not be tolerated.

I call B*llshit. Nixon was a veteran and actually had some skills in government and diplomacy. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/2468f419cc56705d4b99ddb9c82bb92b56dcf92de8dd97f3a97292103b4fc861.jpg

Not My President Rump and his pack of fascist pigs are going to destroy what’s left of our democracy unless we the people get off our asses and stop them in their tracks. It means more than just protests and demonstrations. There must be a war (revolution) for survival. Let’s get busy!!

The biggest difference between Trump and Nixon is the fact there are no longer any inside republicans with enough ethics and integrity to leak any damning evidence the way ‘deep throat’ did.

Orange is the new black Nixon?

Yeah, the next Nixon. Only it’s more likely Trump will start a war with China than anything else.

Trust me Pence would be worse.

I don’t think the urine colored 6X COWARD would be willing to serve in the Military during a time of DECLARED war, as POTUS Nixon did with honor and courage.

probably all the FAKE PHONY republican patriot? will do is bleed the nation’s finances as much as he can until he’s stopped or there is no more for him to steal.

It really is an insult to put the urine colored leader in the same category as POTUS Nixon or any other member of The Armed Forces, there is just no way to compare.

I agree. I thought I’d never say this, but tRump doesn’t hold a candle to Nixon when it comes to bravery and intelligence.

The repubs will use Trump since he will sign anything they shove in front of him. When he doesn’t follow their lead or something ethics wise happens, they will dump him big time. Then we get Pence who some folks don’t seem to know at all. Pence is a radical religious RWNJ repub. You won’t want him.
