Team Trump freaks out following disastrous first 3 days

Let’s see… the “American Carnage” speech… Sean Spicer’s lying tantrum briefing… Kellyanne Conway’s “alternate facts” gaffe… and did we mention the biggest national demonstrations in American history? Trump’s team is in full freakout mode:

To the extent that there was a plan to take advantage of the first days of his administration, when a president is usually at his maximum leverage, Mr. Trump threw it aside with a decision to lash out about crowd sizes at his swearing in and to rewrite the history of his dealings with intelligence agencies.

The lack of discipline troubled even senior members of Mr. Trump’s circle, some of whom had urged him not to indulge his simmering resentment at what he saw as unfair news coverage. Instead, Mr. Trump chose to listen to other aides who shared his outrage and desire to punch back. By the end of the weekend, he and his team were scrambling to get back on script.

New presidents typically find the adjustment from candidate to leader to be a jarring one, and Mr. Trump was not the first to get drawn into the latest flap in a way that fritters away whatever political good will comes with an inauguration. Former President Bill Clinton got off to a tough start by engaging on issues that were not central to his agenda, most notably gays in the military, and took a while to learn how to focus on his highest priorities.

But Mr. Clinton showed none of the combativeness and anger of Mr. Trump.

“The adjustment from private citizen to running the country is unbelievably hard,” said Dan Pfeiffer, a longtime adviser to former President Barack Obama. He said that what people, even new presidents, often fail to fully understand “is that after you stand out there in the weather and take the oath of office in front of an adoring crowd, you walk into that building and you are in charge of the free world.”

Some of the president’s supporters found the first weekend troubling. L. Lin Wood, a prominent libel lawyer who was a vocal defender of Mr. Trump’s on Twitter during the campaign, said that he considered it a dangerous debut.

And as of this morning, the Trump inner circle has more reason to freak out as one of their most prominent media boosters is calling for heads on a stake:

The crew at Morning Joe, whom Trump has reportedly leaned on for advice in the past, excoriated the president on Monday morning, and said that he needs to wake up to the fact that he’s actually president now, not just some touring circus act.

“It’s show time,” co-host Mika Brzezinski said of Trump’s presidency. “And the show has begun really badly.”

In particular, Brzezinski singled out Trump’s decision to spend much of his speech at the CIA headquarters this past weekend bragging about his crowd sizes while attacking the media.

“Whoever didn’t write, or should have written, or should have edited that [CIA] speech should go today — out, goodbye, done,” she said. “And whoever did not coordinate the CIA event correctly should go today… It’s showtime and nobody can afford this.”

Co-host Joe Scarborough, meanwhile, seemed stunned that any Trump aides would encourage him to pick a major fight with the media over inauguration crowd sizes.

“Whoever was encouraging him, goading him to keep fighting about the size of the crowds… should be fired today for the sake of America,” he said.

Who are you quoting and where is the closing quote and credit? C’mon man.

So we’re to believe that Trump’s inner circle is just now coming to the realization that he is completely lacking in self-discipline? Seriously?
The man has the emotional maturity of a 10-year old, he has no impulse control, and he’s totally self-absorbed.

Wake up and smell the damaged psyche.

What’s this world coming to? President Obama failed to take my guns as promised by the right, and Cheeto-Hitler didn’t do any of that “day one” stuff.

I bet the jockeying for power is going to get into full swing right away. The new administration is defecating on itself leaving a power vacuum. The backstabbing in the GOP should be fun to watch. Who will rise to the top in the GOP and attempt to take control of the country should be interesting and regrettably painful. An illegitimate president that is a buffoon and congress that doesn’t know how to take care of the people will give us all plenty of very painful laughs. The crash and burn is on. Try and enjoy the show, you are after all, paying for it.

Well Kelly, at least you already have the wardrobe for the job you’re REALLY qualified for. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/5bf75244cc219d6108a53a404e86c42782e43fb6aef8092b8e5ef21c5193a7c8.jpg

I’m guessing the Trump clown tent will soon be opening an “alternate facts” check site.

Under Melania’s bio, there was a plug for her tacky jewelry being sold on QVC.
        Nice fambly.

Am I the only one who thinks the farce has already become unsustainable …?
I honestly can’t see this going on for more than a few months … something will break first.

Mika and Joe’s fake shock of what rump has said or done should ring hollow. They have seen and known rump for years, but yet they continue to support him. They can’t pick and choose the rump they want to support, they accepted who he is completely.

I used to think his wallet was the way to bring him down.
but now I realize his ego is a far more easier and worthy target.

His buttons are big, nay YUUUGE, and easy to push. We need to push them daily. It should be a ritual.

      • oldfart January 23rd, 2017 at 10:20

Media could be very useful in that regard, if only tRump could pis* them off enough…

        • mea_mark January 23rd, 2017 at 10:31

I think the media will, it will be good for ratings. tRump lives by the sword of the media. They built him up for ratings and they will now tear him down for ratings. People can’t help but look at that crash on the highway when driving by, this is going to be a lot like that.

I do my part everyday, by tweeting him regularly. Saturday he got at least two dozen from me, and if everyone does this, he will melt in rage and drown in his own spittle.

His wallet is full…of Monopoly money and rubles.

It’s going to take a long time to catalog and digest just how freakin insane the whole thing was. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/6d0d11a31c69a01ba9989ae01a034b6e97f34a4bb22f63670acdfa8a1dc7e8c0.jpg

‘Whoever was encouraging him, goading him to keep fighting about the size of the crowds… should be fired today for the sake of America,” Joe said.’

That would mean the Pussy Grabber would have to fire himself.

Thank you… that was my first thought when I read that.

Nice of them to try to shift the blame off of Trump though, hey?

Just keep rocking the boat, just to see what happens

With his inauguration, nice to see gloomy weather,
smallest crowd in decades, empty bleachers, he
cut the Penn Ave. walk short, 37% approval rating,
more protesters than supporters, next day will be
even more protesters, and a speech that helped
unite even more people against him (Americans
not happy but the Russians are)
