Trump calls John Lewis ‘all talk talk talk, no action’

Posted by | January 14, 2017 14:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

Trump chose the wrong civil rights icon to attack in this way.

Congressman John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district, which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to……mention crime infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results. All talk, talk, talk – no action or results. Sad!” Trump wrote in a series of two tweets.

Trump’s comments came after Lewis questioned Trump’s victory in the presidential race. Lewis also testified against Trump’s pick for attorney general, Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.). Lewis has said he won’t attend Trump’s inauguration.

Lewis’ office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

If he wants action, all he has to do is plug “John Lewis” into Google. But if he did that, it would confirm what an idiot he is.

i all for him not sucking up anymore of my oxygen for life. pushing up weeds would be awesome.

His remains would poison the earth to the point that not even weeds would grow. Even plastic flowers would die.

Donald Trump is truly a poor excuse for a human being. A shining example of devolution if there is such a biological reality.

  5. labman57 January 14th, 2017 at 15:24

Remember, Trump judges a person’s qualifications to lead based on the depth of one’s deviousness rather than the depth of one’s wisdom.
He evaluates a person’s net worth based on the value of one’s portfolio rather than one’s value to their community.

  6. Buford2k11 January 14th, 2017 at 16:50

I just did a very compulsive thing…I called John Lewis’s office and offered my support, my admiration for what he has accomplished, and I told him that we are in this together….yep…His DC office voice mail was full…So I called Atlanta…left the message…I am really worried…this is proving to be quite the mess…

    • whatthe46 January 14th, 2017 at 17:46

no doubt he’s getting a lot of calls from people like you wanting to send the same message.

    • whatthe46 January 14th, 2017 at 17:45

he’s getting bitched slapped for his comment across the board. i will bet you anything he didn’t know who Lewis was. to him, he was just a black man who doesn’t know his place. but, he knows now.

      • amersham1046 January 14th, 2017 at 17:58

odds are he still does not know, judging from what comes out of Twitter on most political and social topics he only lives in the moment , any historical content, (or lack of) or any short or long term consequences are not considered

  8. TKList January 14th, 2017 at 18:00

Time for John Lewis to retire, he lost his marbles a long time ago.

Government is about half the health insurance market with Medicare, Medicaid and the VA. This is why the health insurance market is not functioning like a normal market in any other industry.

Get government out of the health insurance business as much as possible. Limit them to limited regulation and financial support for health insurance to those who need it.

Obamacare, Medicaid, Medicare and VA hospitals should be phased out. People under these programs and those who are financially below the poverty level should be given a yearly amount that they could use to purchase health insurance.

Keep the federal regulation stating that insurance companies have to cover pre-existing conditions as long as the person had previous insurance.
Allow people to purchase insurance from any state. Deregulate state health insurance markets. Unhinge medical insurance from employers in the tax code.

Getting government out and increasing competition in this way will lower health insurance costs. It cuts the bureaucracy costs, cuts the fraud costs and improves competition and quality of care.

        • William January 14th, 2017 at 18:45

What does your copy and paste rant about health care have to do with civil rights hero John Lewis?. I get it that you’re not capable of forming your own opinion or paragraph, but please try to find something to copy and paste that’s close to the subject matter. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/e7ae5e4a9cb6638d75b569d422fa1869434adebf4c921868dd32cf71618df5a4.png

I like how the Republican government had no border fence in Texas / Arizona up until GWBs last 2 yrs in office with less border patrol then there are now but suddenly it became a huuuuuge issue.

Do you read the news or is this a surprise to you ?

        • Mensa Member January 15th, 2017 at 10:04

          >> This is why the health insurance market is not functioning like a normal market in any other industry.

Most of the healthcare industry will never, and can not function like a normal market.

Yes, if you have a headache, you can shop for aspirin, Tylenol, etc in a free market.

But, if you break your leg or have a stroke, you can not.

          • TKList January 15th, 2017 at 10:45

Mr. Mensa Member you shop for insurance, not heart surgeons. Insurance covers the emergencies (that is the point of insurance), no shopping around in emergencies necessary.

    • Larry Schmitt January 14th, 2017 at 18:21

If that were true (which it’s not), he would still be miles ahead of trump. And you, by the way.

    • whatthe46 January 14th, 2017 at 18:53

he’s better educated in life experiences than tRump, he’s clearly more intellectual than tRump and he’s not suffering from dementia, like tRump. suck it up buttercup, you’ve voted for a damn moron. a feeble minded idiot, who can’t even coherently string together sentences. he out does palin’s word salad.

      • Mensa Member January 15th, 2017 at 09:57

And, importantly, John Lewis is more ethical than Trump.

Maybe it’s because the rich Republicans are the only ones financially gifted to create jobs with no ladders while fighting decent pay for those working for them.

          • TKList January 15th, 2017 at 00:12

The middle class is the byproduct of a free market economy; it is not manufactured by a politician’s tax gimmicks, minimum wage laws, or government redistribution of wealth.

There is no such thing as a living wage; there is only a wage that someone can afford to pay. You have to tailor your living around your wage, not have government tailor your wage around your living.

Any increase in the minimum wage would only be a temporary relief to some as jobs, other wages and prices rebalance around the increase. It will hurt unskilled workers looking for their first job.

It is about supply and demand. If you have an easy time filling your employee needs, you offer lower wages, if you have a hard time filling your employee needs, you offer higher wages; because if you do not your competition will and you will be out of business.

It is not about what people deserve or what is fair or what is just; it is about what the market will bear. Blame the consumer for shopping for the lowest price and blame the voter for voting for government to fix their problems.

If you feel workers should get better benefits and higher wages, then go start a business and offer these things to your workers. Lead by example and out compete those who pay less, instead of dictating to people who are actually providing jobs. Or start a non-profit that will train, educate and help people stuck in low paying jobs develop new skills so they can get higher paying jobs.

Everything is not an issue in need of a law or statute. Waving the magic government wand at businesses does not magically fix everything.

The value of your labor is mainly set by the amount people are willing to pay for the product you produce or service you perform.

Cronyism, excessive regulation, a convoluted tax code, excessive government spending, an escalating national debt and the Federal Reserve are the major causes of the widening income inequality gap.
            Solutions:
Abolish the tax code,16th Amendment and IRS.
            Enact the Fair Tax.
Minimize regulations to only what is absolutely necessary.
            Balance the budget.
            Start decreasing the national debt.
Abolish the Federal Reserve, the FDIC and all bank regulations except one; require full disclosure on full or fractional reserve backing of deposits.
Treat gold, silver and cryptocurrencies as legal tender (not as an asset) for tax purposes.

The income inequality problem is counterintuitive. Big government equals more income inequality. Smaller government equals less income inequality.

The yin and yang. The balance of affordable things to buy and the income to buy them. No politician can set either.

            • robert January 15th, 2017 at 00:22

Lol go start a business ? Oh yea that’s a typical gop response. Can I file bankruptcy 4 times if it doesn’t work out like trump did

No you say ? Oh that’s right, because gwb made it impossible to obtain credit for ten years. It must be part of the gop wood ladder burning ceremonies that Republicans have from time to time

            • Mensa Member January 15th, 2017 at 09:48

              >> The middle class is the byproduct of a free market economy;

              Pure libertarian mythology.

Low regulation countries, like Pakistan and Somalia, have a few billionaires and a huge lower class, often at starvation wages.

High regulation countries, like Sweden and German, have lower income inequality and a bigger middle class.

    >> Secure the border,

This will be another trillion dollar boondoggle. (on debt, no doubt) AND IT WON’T WORK!

Even if you could keep EVERY Mexican out with a 2000 mile wall guarded by the military, there are endless other undocumented immigrants who would gladly take their jobs. Millions are already here who never crossed that border.

The cheapest and most effective way to end illegal immigration is not a trillion dollar fence — it to criminally prosecute the business owners who hire them. (fines are not enough)

But, that would mean government regulation!
