China warns revenge
China is warning Trump of revenge if he violates the one-China policy.
Click here for reuse options!Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen met senior U.S. Republican lawmakers during her stopover in Houston on Sunday en route to Central America, where she will visit Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala and El Salvador. Tsai will stop in San Francisco on Jan. 13, her way back to Taiwan.
China had asked the United States not to allow Tsai to enter or have formal government meetings under the one China policy.
Beijing considers self-governing Taiwan a renegade province ineligible for state-to-state relations. The subject is a sensitive one for China.
A photograph tweeted by Texas Governor Greg Abbott shows him meeting Tsai, with a small table between them adorned with the U.S., Texas and Taiwanese flags. Tsai’s office said on Monday she also spoke by telephone with U.S. senator John McCain, head of the powerful Senate Committee on Armed Services. Tsai also met Texas Senator Ted Cruz.
“Sticking to (the one China) principle is not a capricious request by China upon U.S. presidents, but an obligation of U.S. presidents to maintain China-U.S. relations and respect the existing order of the Asia-Pacific,” said the Global Times editorial on Sunday. The influential tabloid is published by the ruling Communist Party’s official People’s Daily.

The question is, are they willing to tank their own economy for it ?
They could certainly tank ours in the process…

How far should we let China dictate our foreign policy?
Suzanne McFly January 9th, 2017 at 14:12
Read the article. They are not “dictating” our foreign policy, they are simply holding us to an agreement we made with them previously. It is tiring they you come here to feign some sort disagreement with a problem that doesn’t even exist. It is rump who is not holding up our end of the agreement, go tweet your problem to him.

Foreign policy is dictated by the agreements we have reached with various governments both informally and in writing.
I think the more legitimate question would be, how will Trump mitigate the harm to our economy if WalMart can no longer rely on a steady supply chain from China?
How many of those jobs should we allow Trump to put at risk?

how far should we go to stop them?
all China has to do at this point is stop all trading with the US and our economy is tanked.
if DPRK launches a first strike (Nuclear) against ROK and US Forces 2 minutes before they become a province of China, how do we strike back without becoming an aggressor against China?
the diplomatic world (97.2%) is full of all kinds of traps such as that….
takes someone who THINKS first – before responding.

Actually, they are just following Trump’s lead. He threatened Mexico with a trade war if they don’t pay for the wall. He’s threatened to renege on treaties with other countries unless they pay. He has threatened to commit war crimes.
On that scale, the Chinese are pikers when it comes to threatening other countries to dictate their foreign policy.
