Report: Kushner looking to sell Observer

He is also looking to take on a greater role in Washington.

Now, fashion journal Women’s Wear Daily reports that he’s looking to sell the paper, which he purchased in 2006 for $10 million. “According to people familiar with the matter, Kushner has been quietly shopping the storied paper to potential buyers,” they report.

Observer Media CEO Joseph Meyer didn’t exactly deny the report. “As one of the fastest-growing businesses in all of digital media, we are constantly being approached by potential investors and partners,” he told WWD.

One of the most-interested buyers is reportedly American Media Inc., the publisher of The National Enquier. AMI’s interest wouldn’t be terribly shocking given the Enquirer‘s relentlessly pro-Trump coverage of the 2016 election, with the tabloid even accusing his rival’s father of having killed John F. Kennedy.

A friend owns two medium size city newspapers, both over a hundred years old. Each loses lots of money, draining his family fortune. He considers the papers to be charity to his readers, who deserve rational, thorough coverage of real news.
He’ll hold on as long as possible, the losses covered by his local TV and radio stations.
Does Kushner have electronic media to cover his losses? Isn’t it time to sell anyway?
