Ideal number of sex partners

There is an “ideal” number we want to see in a partner.

According to a study now published online in the Journal of Sex Research, most individuals are cautious of dating a virgin, but also view sexually promiscuous individuals as unattractive. As a result of quizzing 188 individuals, 104 of whom were women, the researchers found that three was the magic number of previous sexual partners preferred. The more previous partners an individual had, the less attractive they became to a potential mate, The Independent reported.

    In all seriousness… I have always had ambivalence about extra-martial sex.

    One one hand — I’m pro-choice about it. This is none of the government’s business.

    On the other hand, I’m personally conservative about such things. I grew up during the go-go sexual liberation of the 70s and saw a lot of negative consequences from it.

    So, this study confirms what I’ve long believed — fidelity is the best practice in sex.

      Not to disagree but the term used was “previous partners”, implying that some ‘experience’ is good, but not to much.
      Not sure they were referring to ‘extra-marital’ affairs.

        I’m not sure if I used the correct term with “extra-marital” — I just mean non-married sex.

        This is what the Religious Right preaches — sex with your spouse and no one else, even before marriage.

        Almost none of them live up to their own standard but it’s what they preach.

        Make no mistake. This hardline is what the Religious Right preaches — sex with your spouse and no one else, before marriage during marriage and after marriage. For your whole life.

        Almost none of them live up to their own standard but it’s what they preach.

        So, I hate to agree with them. But I sort-of do, narrowly. I think libertine sexuality can hurt people.

        But I’m not s-word shaming or being judgmental like they are. It’s just my observation.
