Biden hails Merkel, Trudeau as last liberal leaders standing

Vice President Biden says the world will look to Canada and Germany for leadership.

Visiting Ottawa before he leaves office, the vice-president called on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau — who is beginning his second year in power — to set an example on the international stage.

“I’ve never seen Europe engaged in as much self-doubt,” Biden said Thursday evening at a dinner hosted by Trudeau. “The world’s going to spend a lot of time looking to you, prime minister, as we see more and more challenges to the liberal international order since the end of World War II — you and Angela Merkel.”

Trudeau is an avowed feminist pushing a pro-trade and pro-immigration agenda that is at odds with the rhetoric of President-elect Donald Trump. However, the prime minister has largely avoided criticizing him, saying he will work with any U.S. leader.

Who wudda thunk that about Germany? Canada? yes, Germany? from a continent that has been torn apart for centuries by the same right wing, violent tribes, you would think they would be tired of it by now…I have family in Germany, and they love it there…

It’s true and neither is safe against this creeping isolationism sweeping the globe.
Sadly, I think a lot of damage will be done by the marching morons before they realize that this current trend is a dead end once again, as it always has been in world history.
And of course they’ll never blame themselves, because their entire foundation is built upon blaming others.

Biden and his ilk, with their domestic spying programs and nonstop warmaking, are far from standard bearers of liberal values. Some us really do remember what liberalism means. It is not a political party, and it is not Biden, Clinton or Obama.

Liberalism is a political philosophy or worldview founded on ideas of liberty and equality. Whereas classical liberalism emphasises the role of liberty, social liberalism stresses the importance of equality.

Canada may not be a major power, but they are a moral leader.
