Republican elector won’t vote for Trump
The Texas elector believes Trump lacks the necessary foreign policy experience and demeanor to be president.
Click here for reuse options! In an op-ed in the New York Times, Texas elector Christoper Suprun called on other electors to reject Trump and to instead unify behind former presidential candidate Gov. John Kasich of Ohio.
“The election of the next president is not yet a done deal. Electors of conscience can still do the right thing for the good of the country,” Suprun wrote.
“Presidential electors have the legal right and a constitutional duty to vote their conscience. I believe electors should unify behind a Republican alternative, an honorable and qualified man or woman such as Gov. John Kasich of Ohio. I pray my fellow electors will do their job and join with me in discovering who that person should be.”

not voting for tRump is good, voting for Kasich is still suggestive of NOT giving a damn about this country. period.
arc99 December 5th, 2016 at 19:16
there is a saying to not let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
with President Kasich, we at least would not have a Commander In Chief who brags about grabbing p*ssy..at this point, anything is an improvement.
they have to vote for someone, and there is no way a Democratic candidate will stand a snowball’s chance. I think that in the unlikely scenario where the EC unequivocally rejects Trump, a President Kasich will be as good as it gets..
whatthe46 December 5th, 2016 at 19:31
i would still be sick to my stomach. Kasich like tRump was rejected by the people. WE VOTED for Hillary. what’s the point if our voices will not be heard.
Bunya December 6th, 2016 at 14:25
Hey, I’d rather have a pussy grabber in office rather than religious fanatic.
.
As much as Kasich loves to tout his “small government” bona fides, it is hypocrisy that he proposed a bright idea to use Americans’ tax dollars to create a new federal agency, but not to help Americans. Kasich’s plan is to help the evangelical movement “export and ‘push’ America’s Judeo-Christian belief system across the world.” Seriously, a federal department to proselytize and push Muslims into the Judeo-Christian religion(s) so they can be “exceptional” just like Americans.
.
The nation of Islam has been growing over the years, and I don’t think they’ll take too kindly to proselytization.

Clinton won the popular vote, that is who should get the nod.

At this point there would probably be violent rebellion from the trumpites. We need healing, not violence and more division.
whatthe46 December 5th, 2016 at 19:55
so, to apease the violent hateful racist, don’t vote for the peoples choice because we don’t want to upset them? too bad. if we are going to have to fight, either way, i’d rather it be a fight for the right reason. and that’s to let everyone know our votes mattered.
The Original Just Me December 6th, 2016 at 00:17
I agree, Hillary should have been the President BUT, IF She were to win in the Electoral College, almost impossible at this time, it would throw the U.S. into a Total Civil Disruption. That would destroy everything we are trying to save. This man has an alternate plan that just might work. At this point, ANYTHING is better than T.Rump.
whatthe46 December 6th, 2016 at 00:26
i just hate the fact that after everything we are going through, to stand up to this sh!t and his kind, for it to be given to someone else when she clearly won is a slap in the face of those who have been traumatized and fought for our voices to be heard, just so as to not upset them anymore. that’s how fights are lost and that battle will never end unless we stand up to it. it doesn’t matter who it goes to with regard to the violence, so, if we gotta fight regardless who receives the title, then i want the one who deserves it be called our president. no one can reasonably expect us to sit quietly when she has won the most votes out of every president, only just passing Obama. RESIST!

Too bad we live in a republic and not a true democracy. It is time for election reform. It is time to change how we elect our leaders and to become a true democracy. America just might become what are founding fathers hoped it would become, if we can remake ourselves without violent revolution.
whatthe46 December 6th, 2016 at 12:12
but, your reason is to “not upset the masses” because they are already upset. they are always upset over something, maybe it’s they who should get over it. i’m not sitting in the back of the bus anymore because it pisses them off. they need to get over it.
mea_mark December 6th, 2016 at 13:55
I am for minimizing bloodshed and violence. I really don’t care about their feelings. It is what they may do to other people.
whatthe46 December 6th, 2016 at 17:16
but they are doing it already. so, be it Hillary or Kasich, or tRump, it won’t matter. the only thing that matters is we fight back. whatever that may mean.

I actually agree, right or wrong we have a process (EC) to even the playing field and we need to honor those results. Back in the nomination process and there was talk of the RNC just nominating someone else – that is wrong – you cannot ignore “the people’s” choice, Ignoring those votes would be the end of the Repubican democracy this country runs on. But that said, it means that although I understand how the faithless elector feels – that’s not his job. Kasich is not a choice, if the EC fails to come up with the required 270 the Senate has to choose from one of the top three candidates, period. Those are our rules, if we don’t like them or even if everyone agrees they need to change – it must be changed the right way. You cannot subvert the process becase it’s easier this time.
mea_mark December 6th, 2016 at 09:11
It’s the House that does the choosing, not the Senate. If Kasich gets votes in the EC, he can be in the top three. It is the top three from the EC vote that the house gets to choose from, not the popular vote.
Obewon December 6th, 2016 at 09:27
There is near 0% chance the EC will deliver 269 to 269 requiring the GOP House to vote on any POTUS.
This happened just once in seating 44 presidents. But it will speed the adoption of: The National Popular Vote bill would guarantee the Presidency to the candidate who receives the most popular votes in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Written Explanation It has been enacted into law in 11 states with 165 electoral votes (CA, DC, HI, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, RI, VT, WA). It will take effect when enacted by states with 105 more electoral votes. http://www.nationalpopularvote.com/

There was a near 0% chance the orange one would win the presidency when the primaries started. Look where we are now.
Obewon December 6th, 2016 at 10:07
You can thank faux news FBI Dir Comey’s Hatch act violations for Donnie winning 11/08/16 having just 30% probability. History also proves every 16 years the dumbest candidate wins the GOP nomination & General Election.

I thank Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
Carla Akins December 6th, 2016 at 11:35
I didn’t think he received any electoral votes, I was taking my info from this:
Am I just reading it wrong?
What happens if no presidential candidate gets 270 Electoral votes?
If no candidate receives a majority of Electoral votes, the House of
Representatives elects the President from the 3 Presidential candidates
who received the most Electoral votes. Each state delegation has one
vote. The Senate would elect the Vice President from the 2 Vice
Presidential candidates with the most Electoral votes. Each Senator
would cast one vote for Vice President. If the House of Representatives
fails to elect a President by Inauguration Day, the Vice-President Elect
serves as acting President until the deadlock is resolved in the House.

The electoral college hasn’t voted yet. Nobody actually has any votes yet. EC electors are more or less supposed to vote a certain way but constitutionally they don’t have to. Some states have passed laws saying they should vote how they are told to vote but those laws have never been tested in court and are probably unconstitutional. The electors, by the constitution, are charged with electing a president that is qualified to be president. They can, by the constitution vote for who they think is best to run the country. That would mean that someone who didn’t even run for president could theoretically become president. If the EC can’t decide, it then goes to the House to decide. The House though can only vote on the top three candidates that the EC have chosen. If they fail to elect a president, then, if a vice president was elected, they would become acting president until one is chosen, starting on Jan 20th. At this point I get a little confused. If no vice president was chosen, I think Biden might become acting president. Whatever the case, Obama is out on Jan 20th.
Basically what you are going on is right, it’s just that there are no electoral votes actually cast yet. Not until Dec 19th.

Kasich is a better choice than the orange one that is for sure. Since I see no chance of republicans voting for Hillary, go for it. I think our chances of surviving four years of Kasich are far better than with the orange one.
oldfart December 6th, 2016 at 01:04
Kasich is far less likely to get us in a nuclear war I’ll give him that much.
However his only difference from Pence is a lesser level of fake Christianity.
His views on women’s rights and his voter restriction efforts
STILL makes me want to puke.
It’s the republican controlled congress that’s the real problem.

Going on the ANYTHING BUT T. Rump plan, This man could save the U.S. Also,he would be giving the Republicans a way out of T. Rump. Of coarse the Half-Brains would still be angry but not as Bad as if Hillary were to get the Office. We need to think about Civil War from the In-Bred Crowd. “I STILL BELIEVE IN HILLARY !”.

My apologies. It was mostly a gut reaction on my part to post it that way, There’s so much more behind it.
When feeling stuck between a rock and a hard place and knowing in the years to come, generations will be impacted by the decisions made by men of shoddy character (and I’m being generous here).
Anything I read or hear of that bears witness or confirms that many might have misgivings and regrets about the coming administrative train wreck, gives me a strange sense of empowerment and righteous indignation mixed with a small portion of comfort and satisfaction…
Or FWIW from the days of my youth… https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/de35b4b449d69a73848a2a0564779f25455c5d3906ea52f7df1a3ccc34fb8630.jpg
