Bob Dole arranged the call between Trump and Taiwan.

Public documents under the Foreign Agents Registration Act show the Taiwanese government paid Alston & Bird LLP, a law firm that lists Dole as special counsel, thousands of dollars to lobby for the government’s interests. The firm also helped Taiwanese officials meet with Republican lawmakers in Washington. The details of the contract were first reported by BuzzFeed News.

The Wall Street Journal has reported that Dole helped set up President-elect Donald Trump’s controversial call with the president of Taiwan last week.On Monday, Dole said he “may have had some influence” in setting up the call, which was seen by some political observers to break with tradition of refusing to recognize Taiwan as an independent nation from China. The last call a U.S. president made to a Taiwanese leader was in 1979.

    So for about $2.4million per year, this company will act as an agent to destabilize diplomatic relations between the United States and China, regardless of the negative impact that destablization might have.. There is an old joke where the punch line is something like, well we have established that you are a wh*re. Now we are just negotiating on the price.

    Mind you, that would be the same China which has the largest standing army on the planet, and to whom we owe over $1trillion in debt repayments.

      Diplomatic relations and negative impact;
      If American cares about negative impact and want to have good diplomat relation with China, then can you explain why the every US government keep supply WMD to Taiwan after adopt OneChina policy many decades ago?

      China which has the largest standing army on the planet;
      China use their military muscle to bully Taiwan which is the US
      ally, a US client (they buy weapon from the US), the US business partner. It likes
      you talking about your good friend.it is nothing wrong to stand up for a good
      friend when he/she is bullied. Wouldn’t you do that?

      Owe over $1trillion in debt repayments.;
      if you understand how this thing work, you might not mention this in the first
      place. USD is the world dominated currency, that’s why many country use USD as
      their federal reserve as so China. They can sale USD back to the market when
      they need to b/c USD has a relatively steady value in the “free market”. [“why”
      is a difference topic.] what can China do with the $1trillion in debt? They can
      sale it back to the market. And what will happen if they sale it all at one? it
      like, try to devalue USD while they too have that much USD in hand they will
      hurt themselves, and they know that. The US don’t have to repay china 1trillion
      as you understand it. China is the one to be worry about value of the USD in
      the world market not the other way around.

      In other words, Dole’s company charges the same amount for a year’s work that Hillary charged her Wall Street buddies for a 30-minute speech.

        tRump charged more than that for speeches. but, you don’t have a problem with that. tRumps picks are a part of wall street, but, you don’t have a problem with that. hypocrite much? tRump just imported immigrants to work for his Largo site, but, i guess you have no problem with that either. tRump sends more jobs to mexico re: carrier because he has stock in its parent company and won’t be charging himself the 35% tariff as he says he’ll do to others. but, again, you have no problem with that. tRump still and will continue to outsource his junk to 6 or more different countries, but, you don’t have a problem with that. medicare and s.s. are in danger under the republiklans and republicons, where the elderly and the disabled will be harmed, but, you have no problem with that. it’s quite disturbing that you have absolutely no problem with any of the underhanded crap he’s doing. all of you stupid minions fell for tRump lies and that swamp was only drained to get to the scum he’s lined his cabinet with. racist people are ignorant people and racist voters are about as stupid as they come. you will vote against your own best interest every time.

    Tell me who don’t do this in Washington? I bet lobby by
    foreign government is a new thing!

    Taiwan is a victim here. China sent a nuke capable bomber circle around Taiwan before
    the phone call. I think Trump publicly tweet about the call is to signal China,
    to back off. Not that I agree with things he said, but this time, I think he
    did the right thing.
