Trump Carrier deal: The opposite of what he said he’d do
During the campaign Trump make Carrier “pay a damn tax.” He’s doing the opposite.
Click here for reuse options! In exchange for not outsourcing some jobs, United Technology, which made a profit of $7.6 billion last year and owns Carrier, will reportedly receive $7 million over 10 years in state economic incentives. The company was also assured the Trump administration will lower corporations’ federal tax burden and ease regulations.
In a Wednesday press release, Carrier acknowledged both the federal and state incentives…
Trump and Pence dangled carrots in front of United Technology to entice the corporation to not outsource roughly 850 jobs to Mexico. But that’s a major departure from the approach Trump promised while talking about Carrier on the campaign trail.
During a rally in Indianapolis in April, Trump detailed plans to hit companies like Carrier that outsource jobs with a tariff of 35 percent when they try to sell their products in the United States.

So he actually lied during the campaign? Color me surprised.

He is what he is, a fraud.
The giant international multi-billion dollar corporations will now proceed to extort
even more tax breaks and tax incentives and the children and grand-children of the republican party will be paying for it…as well as everyone else.
Yep ! Won’t it will be great ?

Now would be a good time to start looking for another state to live in Your taxes are about to go through the roof in Indiana
Right to work states= nothing but cheap labor

Of course there are incentives. Without them, they would still be moving to Mexico. It’s all about the dollars. They didn’t decide to stay just because they love trump.

Yeah but what about the 35% tariff he threatened them with?
Was pumkin head lying?
Larry Schmitt December 1st, 2016 at 13:29
A president can’t impose a tariff single=handedly any more than he can do most of the things trump threatened/promised to do. I don’t think Carrier was worried about the tariff, but they knew they could get incentives, and still come out ahead.

they are keeping 1k jobs and sending 1+k to Mexico anyway. got 700k to save 1k jobs and received millions in tax breaks. IN is going to suffer over it.
Larry Schmitt December 1st, 2016 at 14:34
But the only thing that matters is the headline: Trump Saves 1000 Jobs @ Carrier
Whether it’s actually true doesn’t matter.

Pumkin head might not be a politician. But he sure learned the smoke and mirrors part real good.
whatthe46 December 1st, 2016 at 14:55
yep. great at screwing other people. IN is fk’d. he said on the trail that he would tax companies if they didn’t bring jobs back. i guess he forgot he said that. wait, no he didn’t he lied.

He had that down already. Trump “University?”

The media is hyping this as a “Political Victory For Trump” which is the narrative Trump wants. It is nothing of the kind, not even close, it is a complete capitulation by the government to a corporate donor.
If anyone thinks that Carrier is going to close a brand new 600,000 sq ft plant in Mexico, they are mentally deranged. What they are going to do is cash in as much U.S. taxpayer money as possible, a multi-million dollar gift from Trump.

I’d like to know the details of the billion dollar government contract with United Technologies, the parent company of Carrier. That’s where the big money is, the 7 million from Indiana taxpayers is nothing compared to that.

One thing is for sure, we now know the media is firmly in Trumps pants. They are going to do everything they can to make him look like a savior.

So I’ll just call up Trump Tower and tell them I’m thinking about outsourcing 2000 jobs and what are they gonna do for me? First, of course, I’ll need to invent a name for my “company” and concoct some kind of web presence.

Every business, small to large are stupid if they don’t.

CBS just praised trump on issue and kissed his ass over this “victory”

We can forget about any type of investigative journalism the next four years. His threats has them all running scared.
