Rep. Tom Price HHS pick, wants to overturn Obamacare
Georgia Congressman Tom Price may get the HHS job.
Click here for reuse options!Price’s name surfaced for the Cabinet-level position earlier this month. The 62-year-old was one of several Capitol Hill committee chairmen to endorse Trump in May as it became clear the New Yorker was going to become the Republican nominee for president.
Price, a wonky orthopedic surgeon who has represented his Roswell-based House district for 12 years, has been at the center of congressional efforts to repeal Obamacare as chairman of the House Budget Committee. He was also one of the only GOP lawmakers to design a replacement plan for the 2010 health care law — a proposal that never received a vote in committee or on the floor of the House.
Should he be confirmed as the 23rd secretary of health and human services, Price would still play a central but different role in dismantling and eventually replacing the Affordable Care Act. This time it would be as head of the sprawling, 80,000-person department in charge of implementing such health care policies.

These people still cannot give a coherent reason WHY they want to overturn the ACA…there is NO good reason to do it…yet the media fails once again…they have refused to ask those questions, and if they do, they accept the lies, misinformation, and dishonesty that is the cornerstone of the failed media…
Suzanne McFly November 28th, 2016 at 21:17
We aren’t supposed to imply, but the press is making it so we have to. We (democrats) all “know” why the republican politicians are fighting it, but the press gives them the opportunity to spin it to their followers. You are 100% correct, the press needs to do their job but if they did, we would never have PEOTUS rump.

All of the commercials for investment companies that fill the air waves with offers to help you plan for your retirement now have another product to market…..how to pay for your parent’s healthcare. For some they will have to flip a coin to determine if they want to retire comfortably or “not jettison their parents to an ice float”.
Maxx44 November 29th, 2016 at 10:36
Good and bad in this appointment: Good – this creep would no longer be my “representative”. Bad – Price is one of the most unhinged scumbags in Congress. Even though he claims to be a doctor, he does not want anyone to have healthcare. He is despicable.
William Kramer November 29th, 2016 at 10:40
The ACA is great for those who get free (Medicaid) or subsidized healthcare. Not so great for those people who actually have to pay for their healthcare out of their own pockets. Exploding premiums, unaffordable co pays and out of pocket expenses. At best ACA coverage for the person who has to pay for it is an extremely expensive catastrophic care policy since they can’t afford to use it unless they are at deaths door. This is not what was promised to people by Obama when he pushed it through.
meherenow November 29th, 2016 at 11:13
But of course nobody will listen to this complaint. Democratic Party faithfuls prefer, instead, to ponder crazy reasons why so many Democrats felt so totally betrayed by the Obama administration they voted the other way. Like backhoes had anything to do with it.

“Exploding premiums, unaffordable co pays and out of pocket expenses.”
The ACA provides subsidies for people that can’t afford insurance. It doesn’t set the price or deductibles; that is done by the greedy insurance companies. The only thing Obama is guilty of is not pushing for a public option or (heaven forbid) universal coverage.
whatthe46 November 29th, 2016 at 12:02
they don’t realize that before Obamacare, if you had a pre-existing condition insurance carriers could deny you coverage. they don’t like it because a black president offered it.
William Kramer November 29th, 2016 at 12:21
Thanks for a typical Liberal response by charging racism is to blame. Trump’s election is showing that the party that calls for tolerance only believes in tolerance for those who agree with them.
whatthe46 November 29th, 2016 at 12:22
it’s racism plain and simple. just because you don’t like being confronted with it doesn’t mean it isn’t the problem, it is.
William Kramer November 29th, 2016 at 12:24
Again, if a Liberal can’t accept that some one disagrees with their position on an issue they fall back on racism.
whatthe46 November 29th, 2016 at 12:41
it is what it is. anyone that voted for tRump, voted for him because they are racist. plain and simple. it’s a damn fact. he has no family values to speak of, he’s accused of raping a child, he admitted to sexually assaulting women, he’s a racist, he’s a bigot, he’s a fraud, he’s in bed with putin, and the list goes on, even stiffing contractors after the job is done by refusing to honor the contract. he talks about bringing jobs back to the U.S. yet he has his products made in 6 different countries. he purchased his steel from China instead of purchasing them from U.S. manufacturers and knowing this and much more about how low he is, it didn’t matter only his racism did. a woman with crohn’s disease voted for tRump and is now crying she may lose her coverage. and that’s good for her dumb ass. he believes the minimum wage is too high, anyone making 47k or less will no longer be able to receive time and a half for overtime, single parents will no longer be able to claim head of household and their taxes will increase while he gives the 1% tax breaks. yes it’s about racism.
William Kramer November 29th, 2016 at 12:52
Again, a “tolerant” Liberal proves that while some Trump supporters are not good people and deserve to be called out there are Liberals like you that give Liberals a bad name. Intolerant and as much or more racist than the most radical of Conservatives. Have a good 4/8 years stewing in your hatred.
whatthe46 November 29th, 2016 at 12:54
no, tRump supporters are NOT good people. not at all. in fact, some of them are murderers and have done so in his name. some have even lost their jobs/careers because they just felt comfortable showing their ignorance and racism. http://www.alan.com/2016/11/29/2500-cases-of-bigotry-and-bullying-since-election/
William Kramer November 29th, 2016 at 13:50
You just have to go on and on proving my point that many Liberals are intolerant and have to brand entire groups of people with a broad brush of hate. Your attitude and hate is one factor that helped Trump win the election.
whatthe46 November 29th, 2016 at 14:04
i have no tolerance for ignorant racist assholes. if you voted for tRump you’re a racist. there’s no other reason to have voted for him, because he sure as hell doesn’t have any policies, he’s a pathological liar, he’s a fraud, all of which i’ve mentioned. the RW media talked about emails for more than a year, which were about nothing, but, never about tRump and all is illegal dealings, tRump U and his fake foundation for starters. he isn’t presidential material. so what other reason would anyone vote for him, because he’s a racist who was backed and endorsed by the KKKlowns. yes, they are all racist own it.
William Kramer November 29th, 2016 at 14:15
You just have to keep on digging a deeper and deeper hole filled with your hate. Keep on spreading your hate and more Liberal politicians will be looking for jobs in two years.
whatthe46 November 29th, 2016 at 14:24
i’m not going out of my way to harm people because of their religion, ethnicity, color of their skin, or their heritage, that’s tRumps racist supporters. i gave you a link to show you what they are doing, which is racist. they have murdered in his name, because they are racist. if you think for one moment i will tolerate racism or racist then you’re clueless. i can go anywhere in this country or abroad and smile at all those i see, because i don’t have hate in my heart. i can go to a theme park and have a wonderful time. racist can’t say the same. they can’t go anywhere and see those different than themselves without wanting to verbally or physically assault them. it is they who are filled with hate and can’t even tell you why. they are the miserable ones, not i. so, don’t confuse my dislike for your ilk, for hatred. don’t confuse the fact that i don’t tolerate ignorance and stupidity for hatred. because you would be sorely mistaken.

Again you prove my point. I did none of the things that are in this list. Too bad that many of the allegations of assaults and graffiti have been proven to be false or perpetrated by Liberals wanting to blame others. But Liberals believe that by doing things and blaming others is a justified tactic.
I decry any acts of hate by either Conservatives or Liberals. That differs from some Liberals that believe any act is justified to get their point across. You seem to be one of that group. A Liberal hater.

William Kramer November 29th, 2016 at 14:51
I’m not the one who stated the conversation about tolerance. The Democrats made a point of their party being the party of tolerance not the Republicans. After Trumps election they are proving that they are the party of intolerance. If you don’t believe in what they believe in you are the enemy. The postings on this site only prove that point.

The “greedy insurance companies” are all regulated by governmental agencies that approve all rates that are charged to the insured people. Blame politicians from both parties that accept money from lobbyists and companies for insurance costs. They could lower costs by ending requirements like me as a male being covered for pregnancy.
oldfart November 29th, 2016 at 14:39
“The “greedy insurance companies”
“Blame politicians from both parties that accept money from lobbyists and companies for insurance costs.”
“They could lower costs ”
Talk about a conflict of interest…
I have yet to hear a single republican blame themselves or their greedy dirty lobbyist money grubbing congressional critter.
You’re definitely the first. I’ll give you that.
William Kramer November 29th, 2016 at 14:47
You just aren’t listening. If the only source of news you look at is CNN etc. you don’t see what the other side is actually thinking. I read reporting from all types of sources. If you look at varying points of view you have a better chance of coming close to the truth.
Personally as a Trump supporter I have always supported Medicare for all. No more Medicaid or private insurance (unless you want a supplemental policy paid for by yourself/employer with no government tax deductions). But politicians from both parties don’t have the B@@@s to do it. Obama had his chance but he blew it by passing the ACA which was doomed to fail.
whatthe46 November 29th, 2016 at 14:53
the ACA didn’t fail.
William Kramer November 29th, 2016 at 15:02
If you consider areas where people have a choice of 1 insurer and rates going up 60% a success you must work for the government. It is a success to those millions of people who get Medicaid for free but for everyone else it is unsustainable financially. Do yourself a favor and do a little research, even on Liberal news media, even Democrat politicians are calling it a failure now. Blaming the Republicans for its failure while trying to avoid taking any blame themselves.
bpollen November 29th, 2016 at 15:53
That would make some sense if it were TRUE. Before the ACA, insurance was becoming MUCH more expensive and MANY could neither afford it nor even have a chance of getting it.
After ACA, 20 million MORE people have healthcare and prices are increasing at a slower rate than BEFORE the ACA.
Your complaints are that insurance is becoming more expensive. This state existed both BEFORE and AFTER the ACA. As such, the ACA did NOT create the state of affairs with INSURANCE COMPANY PRICES!
oldfart November 29th, 2016 at 15:00
My ears are wide open as are my eyes.
I watch and listen to many varieties of points of view. I don’t buy cable.
What I see currently are cabinet picks whose personal histories belie what you are trying to convince me of. Obama signed the bill, he did not pass it. He also knew that without support from the same insurance groups, we wouldn’t have gotten anything passed. It needs fixing not repealed.
meherenow November 29th, 2016 at 11:14
