Trump adviser to House Republicans: You’re no longer Reagan’s party

Stephen Moore say  it is no longer the party of Reagan.

Moore surprised some of the Republican lawmakers assembled at their closed-door whip meeting last Tuesday when he told them they should no longer think of themselves as belonging to the conservative party of Ronald Reagan.

They now belong to Trump’s populist working-class party, he said.A source briefed on the House GOP whip meeting — which Moore attended as a guest of Majority Whip Steve Scalise — said several lawmakers told him they were taken aback by the economist’s comments.

“For God’s sake, it’s Stephen Moore!” the source said, explaining some of the lawmakers’ reactions to Moore’s statement. “He’s the guy who started Club for Growth. He’s Mr. Supply Side economics.”

“I think it’s going to take them a little time to process what does this all mean,” the source added of the lawmakers. “The vast majority of them were on the wrong side. They didn’t think this was going to happen.”

Asked about his comments to the GOP lawmakers, Moore told The Hill he was giving them a dose of reality.

“Just as Reagan converted the GOP into a conservative party, Trump has converted the GOP into a populist working-class party,” Moore said in an interview Wednesday. “In some ways this will be good for conservatives and in other ways possibly frustrating.”

Yup, the GOP as we know it is dying. I wonder if it is possible that they may become the new left. If the democrats keep moving to the right, it might be possible for the left, along with the working class, to take over the GOP and give it an entirely new direction. Strange things certainly happen in politics sometimes. We could be on the verge of some big, unexpected changes.

“Trump has converted the GOP into a populist working-class party,”
Um, not really… I highly doubt ANY of them give a rats azz about working class families.
Unless they’re running for office or re-election.

GOP “populism” means destroying Medicare and public schools as we know them, then replacing then with programs forcing people into the private sector to patronize multi million dollar companies.

Critical social needs will be addressed only if they are profitable.

Hard to believe there are so many in this country stupid enough to believe that an authentic populist agenda will be addressed by handing over hundreds of billions of tax dollars to for-profit corporations. Of course, it was hard for me to believe there were so many in this country stupid enough to believe the birther BS. Shows you what I know…

A vote for the orange one was more often than not I suspect, a vote for change. It wasn’t a vote for what #Derp45 is going to actually do. He just opens the door to new possibilities. It is unfortunate that this is the path we are on, but the dems wanted status quo when lots of people want change.

Hmmm, If I recall correctly, Chairman Mao also spoke to working class promising healthcare and education. From what I studied about Mao, that didn’t work out so well thanks to his “Great Leap Forward” plan. I wonder if rump has the same outcome in mind? Nothing short of an oligarchy.
