700 Christian women revolt against pro-Trump pastors
Click here for reuse options!A letter from over 700 Christian women this week admonished religious leaders who continue to support Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump after he bragged about groping women without their permission.
Many male evangelical leaders — like Pat Robertson, Tony Perkins and James Dobson— have only doubled down on their support of Trump in light of recent allegations that he has abused at least nine women…
The Christian Post reported on Monday that over 700 Christian women had come forward to speak out against the GOP nominee and the church leaders who support him.
“As Christian women we are appalled by Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s recorded remarks that disparage women and condone sexual assault. Such language cannot be dismissed as ‘locker room talk,’” the letter states. “The sin of misogyny has caused many of us to experience sexual assault or sexually abusive language that threatened our safety, dignity and well-being.”
The letter goes on to call out “Christian leaders” who “condone such violent speech about women as a minor mistake or an innocent attempt to be ‘macho.’”

I think I pissed off some Catholic Ecuadorians when they asked why I was no longer Catholic. I answered that religion is created by men for the benefit of men. The most negative reactions all came from the men.

You weren’t lying, so they have no reason to be pissed.

Yeah, but when you criticize or challenge belief systems, you can get knee-jerk responses. I HAVE been called a blasphemer before! (And it just cracks me up when it happens!)

I usually get the usual, “Help! I’m being persecuted” response.

That would get a good belly laugh outta me… “Yer Gawd is so powerful that his followers fear words? “

I grew up in the Catholic church and I was pissed when I was able to realize women are considered second class citizens. As an adult, I don’t go there during mass, I go when no service is being held and I pray by myself. It is much more peaceful and no one asks for money or wants me to eat a stale cracker.

That’s okay, being alone in the Church is safe as long as you are not a young boy. :+)

There is a certain majesty in the services… but it has nothing to do with Gawd. It’s essentially showmanship. The architecture of churches are part of the show. And yet, it seems to conflict with Christ on prayer:
“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

Hit em where it hurts. Send your tithes and offerings to real charities that help the poor.

What you suggest is what I do. I donate to St. Jude’s, to my local food bank, to refugee organizations, and to other organizations that actually help individuals NOT to pastors who want to buy a new private plane or another vacation home.

Evangelical leadership has sure escaped due criticism imo. I don’t know of any other group with numbers that large that has had so many idiots at the helm for so long.
