Jeff Flake exposes Supreme Court nominee charade

It was all about sabotaging President Obama:

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) made admissions that could be awkward for his Republican Senate colleagues trying to block President Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court.

In an interview published Monday, Flake conceded that nobody in the Republican Party “really believes” that late Justice Antonin Scalia’s Supreme Court seat should be left for the next president to fill.

As proof, he flipped the scenario around and envisioned a Republican president currently in the White House and nearing the end of his term.

“Our position shouldn’t be that the next president ought to decide. Nobody really believes that, because if this were the last year of a Republican presidency nobody would say that,” Flake told the Daily Beast.

There’s only one possible response to that: Duh!

Republican “patriotism” puts party before country.

It’s been that way for years but they’ve taken it practically to treason.

“We do what we don’t believe and isn’t right all the time” GOP

Come on, Jeff! Take it the next step: Only people who put their party before their country would consider abrogating their duty to advise on a supreme court justice appointment. And there is really only one adjective that describes such people: Unpatriotic. Maybe it’s time we start hanging that label where it belongs.

This is as legal as Trump’s taxes. It smells, but there it is.

35 days to go, this issue is almost moot

It will serve them right if in January we have a President Clinton with a Democratic-controlled Senate considering a new nominee to the left of Justice Ginsberg. President Obama tried working with these idiots and nominated a qualified centrist in Judge Garland. The GOP decided to play stupid political games.

So dispense with any pretense of caring what right wingers want, and nominate someone who is unabashedly progressive in their decisions, and let Republicans stew on the fact that their stupidity has bitten them in the a$$.

    Again….

This Flake almost acts like he is trying to have a Brain. It is True that if the Senate does not accept the Centrist Candidate that Pres. Obama nominated, then Hillary could put in a Total Left leaning candidate. Although I believe She will stay with Obama’s choice. The Republicans Are Playing Politics with this and as Usual anymore, They are going to lose.

how is this suddenly a revelation? The repbs in the usa have blocked every movement the president has tried to put in motion, even when he is quietly alone on the toilet. Your govt has been at a relative standstill a la the people, not wars, since a dark skinned person entered the white house.
