Chelsea Clinton: Republican platform embraces child abuse

Posted by | July 28, 2016 16:57 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories

Chelsea is referring to gay conversion therapy, which is part of the Republican platform.

“I’ve thought about what I found most offensive last week,” she said to laughter from the crowd. “It’s hard, admittedly, to pick just one part of the Republican rhetoric which was divisive, degrading, demeaning, or the Republican Party platform which was the antithesis to all that Chad [Griffin of the HRC] celebrated for us as Democrats here—it was the most regressive, least inclusive platform in modern political history.”

She continued: “But I think what I actually found most offensive really again ties to me as a mom. The open embrace of conversion therapy in the Republican Party platform—in other words, child abuse—to me is the clarion call for all of us to do everything we can to elect my mom, and elect Democrats up and down the ticket.”

The press was fawning over the rump children last week commenting on how great they turned out (even though there father is a friggin’ nut). I better hear a lot of how great Chelsea is also, we know she actually has been a great kid and has grown up to be a great adult.

I’d like to see some proof that conversion therapy is INHERENTLY emotionally or physically abusive in a way that is not consistent with other mental treatments for other so-called problems that those children may not want.

Without such inherent abuse, cases must be treated a case-by-case basis as to whether they are abusive or not. Innocent until proven guilty – if one believe in that concept.
    .
I certainly believe parents have the right to make their kid go to sunday school which some, no doubt, consider child abuse – particularly atheists maybe..

    • anothertoothpick July 28th, 2016 at 18:36

      So when you say “proof” do you mean;

      Scintilla?

      Air of reality?

      Reasonable suspicion?

      Probable cause?

      Preponderance of the evidence??

      Clear and convincing evidence?

Beyond a shadow of a doubt?

Which standard are you looking for? Be specific with complete explanation and do not leave one word out..

He means something no one would ever be able to supply because he’s got his uninformed opinion and he’s sticking to it.

    • Hirightnow July 28th, 2016 at 19:15

Your argument could easily be construed as advocating child pornography; after all, not EVERY child can be proved to be harmed by it.

Just don’t post any of your “Special” pictures here.

      • Howard Pearce @HAPlibertarian July 28th, 2016 at 19:26

I think the concept of what is pornography or not is very subjective.

I’m sure women in bikinis were once considered pornography by some people

        • whatthe46 July 29th, 2016 at 00:41

          we’re talking about children asswipe.

          • bpollen July 29th, 2016 at 05:27

He thinks the concept of what is a child or not is very subjective.

            • Howard Pearce @HAPlibertarian July 29th, 2016 at 10:43

And you are telling that 1 day to get to 18 suddenly makes you an adult ? But nit the day before ? That’s funny

              • bpollen July 29th, 2016 at 15:14

                Nit the day before? Huh?

Actually, Hapless, funny or not, it’s the law. Don’t like the law? Get elected Liberscaredycat King of the World and change it.

But hey, thanks so much for proving my point for me. “But your honor, it’s not statutory rape. She’s an exceptionally mature 12!”

          • Howard Pearce @HAPlibertarian July 29th, 2016 at 09:04

I agree. Is a child watching women in bikinis pornography, you piece of toilet tissue that I will use :) ?

      • Obewon July 29th, 2016 at 00:31

Exactly! That’s why Howie feigns being a Libertarian for TrumpU ripoffs.

    • bpollen July 29th, 2016 at 05:24

Why would you like to see proof? Would that change your mind? Cuz that would be totally out of character for the Hapless we’ve come to know.

    • robert July 29th, 2016 at 09:42

Hmm let’s see why would atheists consider Sunday school abusive? Last time I checked Howard Sunday’s were optional . You might want to explain the abuse .

      • Howard Pearce @HAPlibertarian July 29th, 2016 at 10:12

Because the kids or other relives see it as abusive emotionally brainwashing making them accept mystical gods that they don’t believe exist

        • robert July 29th, 2016 at 17:45

So the Bible has more then one god ?

    • RandyBastard July 29th, 2016 at 10:36

Because conversion therapy is based entirely on the repression and repudiation of who they are as a person. Fundamentally. It is a forced denial of everything that person feels and believes at their very core.

Nothing, and certainly not Sunday school, can compare to that. Well, maybe Army boot camp. That’s the only other example I can think of where the individual is fundamentally torn down and replaced with a “more acceptable” core being.

      • Howard Pearce @HAPlibertarian July 29th, 2016 at 11:00

“Because conversion therapy is based entirely on the repression and repudiation of who they are as a person.”

I won’t deny that – but thisis a parent child relationship where parents may do just that all the time as part of their parenting … Like make attend sunday school etc.

Yes, you want to excuse those situations you approve of, simply say that situation doesn’t apply – without telling us why.

By you own statement, an atheist is being required to read and listen to stuff that violates his identity as an atheist

        Not enough to conclude abuse.

        • RandyBastard July 29th, 2016 at 22:27

These are juveniles we’re talking about. Good grief. We can’t expect kids to understand the nuance of the situation.

      • whatthe46 July 29th, 2016 at 11:08

        Great response.

    • fahvel July 29th, 2016 at 10:39

you are such an ass than I can no longer sit. How dare you spew such sick and putrid thoughts. Shame on you.

      • Howard Pearce @HAPlibertarian July 29th, 2016 at 10:45

LOL, and I am sure you earned IQ points for such informative comments

        Negative points, that is :)

      • mistlesuede July 29th, 2016 at 11:08

We could all just start flagging him and he’d be gone quickly. But it is fun to see someone so totally whacked make an a$$ of himself over and over.
The unemployed and weak minded right wing trolls are so transparent and will be very disappointed come November.

  3. mistlesuede July 29th, 2016 at 11:01

Marcus Bachman must have been fuming to hear this lovely and highly intelligent young woman talk about his money maker. Proof that it doesn’t work, he is still gay. And to force people into “conversion therapy” is abuse.
