‘Angels’ block church’s protests at Orlando funerals

The discredited Wesboro Baptist Church is being met by the Orlando Shakespeare Theater and others in the arts community who built “angel wings” to thwart the protesters.

Angels really do exist — at least in Orlando. When the reviled hate group Westboro Baptist Church announced that it would be picketing the funerals of the victims of the Orlando gay bar shooting tragedy, a group of actors decided to fight back in a decidedly heavenly way.

Per American Theatre, the Orlando Shakespeare Theater and the Angel Action Wings Project have teamed up to clothe local actors in massive white linen angel wings in the hopes of blocking the 40-member “church” group and their hate-filled signs, the most startlingly recognizable of which is “God Hates Fags.” Thanks to donations, the Orlando Shakespeare Theater is building each of the angel ensembles in their costume shop.

Wonder what that fake “Christian” group thought when they saw these actors in Angel costumes?

    • whatthe46 June 18th, 2016 at 16:24

you mean “christian terrorist” group right?

    • Red Mann June 18th, 2016 at 16:36

They live on being insulted, they thrive on the controversy they generate, they love being hated because it means they must be super good Christians because they are being “persecuted”.

        Sounds about right!

        Bingo.
Can’t justify having a victim mentality, unless you see yourself as a victim.

Another version of ‘Angels in America’.

    • nola878 June 18th, 2016 at 17:23

Don’t believe i angels, but I do beleive in these.

I’m not a believer, either. My remark was a play on the great epic film, “Angels in America” about AIDS and the gay community. I do like your response, though.

so much bad has happened with this horrible tragedy, 49 people dead and so many more injured, some still fighting for life. It is hard sometimes to see the goodness in all that grief. But over 20,000 turned up to donate blood, so far people have donated over 8 million dollars to help the victims, the donations are going to be handled differently than in the past, and THIS time the money is to go to victims, not the administration costs, and now this, all these people using peaceful means to stop compassionless, mean, hateful people. I am so sad about the bad things, the loss of life, people with maybe permanent physical problems, but I am grateful for all of the good that has come from this.

Just what I like to see, people working together, in teamwork to make the world, our world a lot nicer. I hope some day the families can remember the good too. Don’t know how survivors can be so brave.

sad how this one person with the blessings of those who want more guns on the street and in the hands of anyone, have in just minutes, destroyed and altered the lives of 1000’s. it’s sickening.

        • clemans June 18th, 2016 at 23:32

very sad, which was why I was glad to see the outpouring of help and support from thousands more. Hard to imagine the best and worst of humans all in one week.

I find it especially tasty since they are using Christian imagery to counter WBC’s horrendous behavior.

I wonder if they recognized what the people dressed up were depicting. We know its not the guy upstairs these types support, it is obviously the other guy, and his angels don’t look like that.

I couldn’t begin to guess what goes on in those compost heaps on their shoulders.

Yeah, I wouldn’t try to figure it out, I bet it would give you brain cramps.
