Chopra: Trump ‘represents the emotional retardation of a three-year-old’

Integrative medicine and spiritual pioneer Deepak Chopra told me on radio Tuesday night that Donald Trump represents “the shadow” that is the worst part ofd the human psyche. He explained his comments on Trump by saying he brings out the worst in all of us, even Chopra, a person who often talks about being nonreactive.  He then went on to balance the shadow with the light, and discuss how to address such a negative force.

CHOPRA: I would never say this unless I believed it was 100% true, but he represents the racist, the bigot, the one who’s prejudiced, the one who is full of fear and hatred, the one who represents emotional retardation of a three-year old. And yet he’s so popular because he’s given permission to our collective psyche to express their darkest demons.

COLMES: Now is he all the things you mentioned? When you said represents that, but is he those things?

CHOPRA: I think he is. I think he’s racist, he’s bigoted, he’s prejudiced. He’s full of fear. He is angry. He has a lot of hatred. He pouts, he’s belligerent, he’s emotionally retarded…

He says one thing in the morning, in the afternoon he says exactly the opposite, and in the evening he denies he said either of those things in the same sentence.

COLMES: He will say I’m for free trade but I think we need to put more tariffs on China.

CHOPRA: Maybe I was too kind when I said he was emotionally retarded, maybe he’s mentally retarded too…

COLMES: I just wonder how much awareness we’re seeing among those, particularity in the candidate himself and those who might support him, where this is taking us?

CHOPRA: This is taking us to the abyss. This is taking us to the valley of death. This is taking us to the darkest place that humanity can go.

    Donnie is “special”. He has been surrounded only by people who fawn over him ( or else “You’re Fired!!) so long that he doesn’t except that he is just another bozo on this bus we call life.

    I tuned in late and missed that segment…but the aftermath with some of the callers, wow…I don’t know how Alan does it…day after day in the Liars’ Den…I just don’t like to listen to the advertising…especially fox news…but Alan, I am curious about your defense of the Media…I know Media is a sweeping term, and it covers a lot of territory…but I didn’t hear all of what you said…How Do you see the media? what IS the media? and what are you defending? I liked what you were saying and doing, I just don’t understand some of what the media is doing…

    tRump is the manifestation of a transcendental, existential brain fart. Everything that is waste in our society, that needs to be thrown away, is becoming iconic and idolized through tRump. This can be very valuable to humanity. We are clearly seeing what we need to get rid of, what we need to change. … somebody get me a lighter and let’s torch this fart … KABOOM !

    The best conversation I’ve heard in a long time Alan. The Orange Man was never taught boundaries as a child and he only re-enforces my belief when he never accepts responsibility for his words or actions. The GOP still hasn’t accepted their part in this person’s rise within their party nor will they.

    Now all I ask is that you now invite Ian Haney Lopez to your show.

    I’m not a fan of woo-meister Chopra, but he has certainly nailed tRump, and his supporters.
