Clinton opens up double digit national lead

Posted by | June 3, 2016 18:59 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories

Hillary Clinton is ahead of Donald Trump by double digits in a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.

The shift in support comes as Clinton steps up her attacks on the real estate mogul’s policy positions, and as Trump fends off criticisms of his eponymous university and the pace at which he doled out money that he raised for U.S. veterans.

Some 46 percent of likely voters said they supported Clinton, while 35 percent said they supported Trump, and another 19 percent said they would not support either, according to the survey of 1,421 people conducted between May 30 and June 3.

    Buh-bye Turtle-DUMP.

After the convention Trumps numbers will sag even further.
But don’t get complacent, we must all get out and vote for the Democratic party because too much is at stake.

    • StoneyCurtisll June 3rd, 2016 at 21:52

      Exactly..
      Never become complacent.

    • cecilia June 3rd, 2016 at 23:14

our very lives are at stake

  3. StoneyCurtisll June 3rd, 2016 at 21:51

This is good news for a change…

    • Mensa Member June 3rd, 2016 at 21:54

      Yes it’s good: Just remember:

      1. National polls don’t mean much.
      2. Polls this early don’t mean much.

      • StoneyCurtisll June 3rd, 2016 at 21:56

        Of course not..
        But..
        It still sounds good..:)

        • Mensa Member June 3rd, 2016 at 22:01

I am totally with you. And, as Alan points out, the numbers will get even better once Bernie endorses Hillary and the party unifies.

      • Candide Gunn June 3rd, 2016 at 23:58

Apparently they only count when Clinton is winning, they don’t mean anything if anyone else is winning…and they are sticking to their Clinton media bias to the bitter end.

Hillary’s greatest ally is Donald’s big mouth

    • Mensa Member June 3rd, 2016 at 22:14

If American politics weren’t so dysfunctional, I’d absolutely agree with you.

But conservatives _like_ Donald’s big mouth. They _like_ his lies, thin skin, racism and juvenile behavior..

      • Buford2k11 June 4th, 2016 at 08:51

I think the conservatives are just tolerating and bowing to Trump…they have been “dry humped into supporting him”….like an Alpha dog…This is a Fringe candidate…he has built a coalition of sorts…Everything from those NeoNazies all the way to the KKK…and beyond…there is a small band of conservatives that oppose Trump…but they are few and cowardly…

All we have to do is keep the camera on him and he is a narcissist so he will happily comply.

  6. Kick Frenzy June 3rd, 2016 at 22:55

So wait… when Bernie is beating Trump by huge numbers, it’s not really important or a real story because it’s too early to rely on polls.
Hillary finally has one poll that shows a double digit lead and it’s all Hallelujah choruses and trumpets on high and “just LOOK at this poll!”?

I mean, don’t get me wrong, yeah for Trump doing worse, but… if a double digit lead against Trump was this big of a deal, Bernie should’ve been getting held on high for months at this point.
(And still should be, as he still polls way better than Hillary against Trump… in one poll, she’s 19 points ahead of Trump, while Bernie is 29 points ahead.)

    *facepalm*

    • cecilia June 3rd, 2016 at 23:18

the media – with very few exceptions – have been used by drumpf to spread his racist, sexist bullshit. Edward R Murrow is rolling in his grave at the unprofessional behavior of the media. SHame on them.
They should have been calling out drumpf’s BS months ago instead of sucking up to his dog and pony act.

AND, more importantly, they should have been reporting on THE ISSUES that Bernie keeps talking about. But Bernie isn’t sexy and crazy enough so they missed the mark. A-holes…the lot of them.

    • Jack E Raynbeau June 4th, 2016 at 00:46

Polls are fun but meaningless at this point.

    • Greta42 June 4th, 2016 at 10:22

Sanders did not get trashed by Trump and the RW zealots like Clinton did, so the polling would be meaningless. If he had been the leading candidate, Drumpf would have used many things in Sanders background to make him look like Karl Marx.

    • eyelashviper June 4th, 2016 at 10:34

Trump and the Gopers have not gone after Bernie, as they do not see him as the ultimate candidate on the Dem side.
There is no doubt that they would be slinging plenty of mud his way, and they have a pig sty full of it, ready to go if necessary.

  7. Foundryman June 3rd, 2016 at 23:27

All Hillary has to do to win is keep using Trumps own words against him, he’ll do the rest. A narcissist will never be able to shut up when called a loser or liar.

  8. Chris June 3rd, 2016 at 23:38

Can’t wait for the first Republican to protest, “But it’s not a Fox or Rasmussen poll, so it doesn’t count! So there!”

  9. Soothsayer123 June 3rd, 2016 at 23:46

Just watch how big her lead gets when she wins the Dem nomination next week.

  10. Jack E Raynbeau June 4th, 2016 at 00:44

I can’t wait to see her trash Trump if he decides to debate.

  11. William June 4th, 2016 at 01:50

It’s about time. For nearly a year the media has been All Trump, all the time. If Trump farts, MSNBC will make it into a sound byte. Chris Mathews will assemble a panel to discuss it, and Racheal Maddow will call a chemist to analyze it’s quality and Sulphur content. Sadly other candidates have had coverage of their campaigns overshadowed by the antics of an orange faced clown.

    • Greta42 June 4th, 2016 at 10:18

The MSM allowed Drumpf to literally take over their network coverage and have cameras focused on an empty podium while they waited endlessly for Don the Con to step on the stage and start ranting. It was/is unacceptable and finally things are changing.

  12. oldfart June 4th, 2016 at 12:23

The media giveth and the media taketh away…
How strange that tweets, are now considered to be “news”.

  13. Arthur Gane June 4th, 2016 at 14:02

Don’t be complacent. HRC may not be your first choice as a candidate but look at the opposition.
Trumps election would be the death knell for America
