Evangelical knows Trump a good Christian because he ‘point[s] to the sky’

Almost any excuse will do, at this point.

In a Bloomberg report on Trump’s courting of the Evangelical vote, we learn that “at one recent meeting with Trump, evangelical leaders noted how he often flashes a signature hand gesture, with a thumb out and a finger point to the sky, as he enters and exits rallies.”

Why could this possibly matter, you ask? We’ll let Trump-supporting televangelist Pastor Mark Burns explain.

“You see athletes do it all the time and it’s their chance to point to the sky, to thank God for their success,” he told Bloomberg. “Trump does this all of the time, too. He’s giving reverence to the man upstairs. Even with Mr. Trump’s billions of dollars, he too still submits himself to God.”

  2. anothertoothpick May 23rd, 2016 at 14:26

I have seen baseball players pointing to the sky after they do something good.

    It means a lot.

    • Larry Schmitt May 23rd, 2016 at 15:05

      Snark tag not necessary.

    • granpa.usthai May 23rd, 2016 at 16:26

      how about them football touchdowns?

      YEA BABY!

double down on reverencing the big guy in the sky.

      • Larry Schmitt May 23rd, 2016 at 18:20

How come they never blame Jeebus when they drop a touchdown pass or miss a field goal or strike out? Shouldn’t it work both ways? If he gets the credit for the good stuff, isn’t he the reason they fail too?

        • granpa.usthai May 23rd, 2016 at 23:40

nope. Only satan causes failures. that’s why the Cuban Antichrist that ushered in the Communist Regime of Fidel Castro wasn’t able to get the GOP flock to go for his illegitimate Canadian born son.

all the debil’s fault – every bit of it.

well, the parts that weren’t Obama’s that is.

  3. mea_mark May 23rd, 2016 at 14:36

So all you have to do is point up at the sky a lot and you can dupe evangelicals, nice to know.

    • Larry Schmitt May 23rd, 2016 at 15:06

They already believe in a fairy tale, so how hard can it be?

    • clemans May 23rd, 2016 at 16:00

we really need to force people to take critical thinking classes before they can vote they should have to pass the class.

      • anothertoothpick May 23rd, 2016 at 16:45

We could test the Trump voters to see if they know how to play the banjo.

        It would only be fair.

        • clemans May 23rd, 2016 at 17:26

maybe, but Americans have gotten so dumbed down, I think it only fair to test everybody.

Ask the trump supporters, how many bubbles are in a bar of dial soap?

        wow!

this guy could be like the Pope of White Racist Teabaggers and personal religious advisor to a trump administration at the same time!

like: how should we respond to the people about our foreign policy failures o -great one?

how’s about our domestic economic failures o – great one?

how’s about if our hungry citizens ask for the crumbs from our table?

emergency medical treatment for a severed limb replant?

the little old lady trying to cross the street?

children who like Tony the Tiger?

  4. arc99 May 23rd, 2016 at 14:37

I am not impressed at all.

Now if Trump kissed the sky, I might give him one brownie point for being a fan of the late great Jimi Hendrix.

    • anothertoothpick May 23rd, 2016 at 14:44

I thought it was “Excuse Me While I Kiss This Guy”

      hahahahahaha just kidding.

      • alpacadaddy May 23rd, 2016 at 14:46

Naw… it’s “Excuse me, there’s something in my eye”!

      • alpacadaddy May 23rd, 2016 at 14:50

Or, considering the insane possibility of a “President tRump”; “Excuse me while I friggin’ cry”!!

  5. labman57 May 23rd, 2016 at 14:43

    Do you mean like this?

  6. granpa.usthai May 23rd, 2016 at 15:21

as one who has full biblical qualifications to be a
    PROPHET
    OF
    GOD

I humbly question the biblical accuracy of the american evangelical LYING, THIEVING christians.

more made up religious BS made up for WHITE RACIST to be duped is my guess.

R U sure it’s not an ‘in you face god’ type of pointing?

only when their TAX RETURNS are on public display will we know for sure.

it’s baby don don’s move now.

  7. bpollen May 23rd, 2016 at 15:37

I guess bird watchers, ufo and plane watchers, and turkeys in the rain are all good Xtians.

    • clemans May 23rd, 2016 at 15:56

I read that three times before I got it…..that person really thinks Trump believes in a sky daddy and is giving thanks for what Trump has? Well, that is just too funny! Trump thanking anybody for anything and meaning it…..a novel idea, one not based on reality though.
      smiles

It keeps getting worse, these crazy people are just too much.

      • bpollen May 23rd, 2016 at 15:58

Evangelicals and Trump have one thing in common – delusions.

        • clemans May 23rd, 2016 at 17:18

endless ones it seems, and Trump said that he is NEVER wrong

          • bpollen May 24th, 2016 at 03:22

4 bankruptcies would tend to indicate that he has been wrong a lot.

            • clemans May 24th, 2016 at 05:24

it would to you and me ……but with each bankruptcy, he got to pass on the debt to others and pay less than he owed. He lived above his means with others paying for it. He could very well think that was a good plan.

This man is one of the real takers. A master at taking…..from all the little people who cheer for him too.

              • bpollen May 24th, 2016 at 05:57

He is minimizing his liability, but it’s the liability for his failures.

                • clemans May 24th, 2016 at 06:09

I view it like you do, but he doesn’t.

In one article I read, he shifted the debt onto investors, they picked up the debt, he got off free and clear, and then wouldn’t pay his lawyers….so they sued and he had to pay the second set of lawyers…..not sure how the case was settled.

That all smacks of being a loser to me, but not apparently to him or he would have used the first time as motivation for changing behavior and avoiding it the next three times.

Being married three times indicates he made mistakes as well, but he said he NEVER is wrong.

look who’s been giving reverence to the ‘man’* (religiously incorrect) upstairs double high fives with ALL digits pointed towards him since before con don don went on the quick hobble to hide behind US Secret Service Agents. media.philstar.com/images/the-philippine-star/world/20150615/hillary-rodham-clinton.jpg

*god is a spirit and those who worship him must do so in the spirit. my reference as “the man upstairs” was in using the incorrect terminology for The Holy Divinity by the MIXED FIBER WEARERS who were probably dressed in their finest TRUMP JUNK imported from the countries when donald j. trump exploits human suffering to help make donald j. trump great again in america.

  10. granpa.usthai May 23rd, 2016 at 16:34

excuse me, but I thought that he was dining out in Nugent’s to show his support for WHITE RACIST THUGS and the NRA?

  11. Chris May 23rd, 2016 at 19:28

    Yeah.
Trump refers to communion wafers as crackers,
he refers to “Second Corinthians” as “Two Corinthians”, and
he admits he has never confessed sin to God, something all Christians say is essential for salvation.

Yeah. Trump “still submits himself to God”, Pastor.

Wow, you are some kind of willfully ignorant person.

    • whatthe46 May 23rd, 2016 at 19:41

“Wow, you are some kind of willfully ignorant person.” that’s an understatement.

  12. Warman1138 May 23rd, 2016 at 19:51

Sooooo every time I’ve flipped the bird I was acknowledging an imaginary sky god, who knew, because I certainly didn’t.

  13. Obewon May 23rd, 2016 at 20:27

He’s among 6% of African Americans voting GOP. Vs the (D) 94% voting correctly! “I ain’t voting for no Klansman!”-Conservative co-worker who thought ‘only Men can be president.’ She voted HRC, after I mentioned #1 EU economic leader German Chancellor Merkel.

  14. robert May 23rd, 2016 at 23:46

Hey ! whats going on here pastor

    • fahvel May 24th, 2016 at 03:46

my oh my, the same geste from of real leader!!!!

  15. fahvel May 24th, 2016 at 03:49

how do the totally ignorant like these evangelical loons gather an audience? Terrifying to think that those standing behind them are even more ignorant and confused and lacking of any self respect: you know, that thing which allows someone to think and search through life honorably rather than simper after a wild imagined non existent god thing: self respect!

    • frewnobulax May 24th, 2016 at 13:24

Because they have been brainwashed since childhood. Churches and mosques etc should be adult only.

  16. bpollen May 24th, 2016 at 04:41

If Gawd is omnipresent, as Christians claim, then you could point in any possible direction and be pointing at Gawd. So your proctologist pointing at that polyp in your colon is pointing at Gawd.

  19. Dicazi May 26th, 2016 at 18:19

Trump, an admitted adulterer, has said that he has never felt the need to ask God for forgiveness. The very antithesis of what Jesus taught. We ALL need God’s forgiveness. Why are so many evangelicals falling for his lies?
