Virgin Mary statue ‘crying blood’

The statue is causing a mass pilgrimage to a small Colombian town.

Images of the statue with a red liquid dripping down its cheek have been shared on social media, prompting a mass pilgrimage to Floridablanca in Columbia.

Locals believe they have witnessed a miracle and others are swarming to catch a glimpse.

Resident Ana Cristina Jimenez said: ‘I saw that the Virgin had a tear of blood. I was surprised. I felt joyful, sad… everything!’

Miryan Quintero, another woman from the community, added: ‘I believe it. The Virgin is alive in Heaven. I know she’s real.’

    This is as miraculous as Jesus appearing on a tortilla. There is a logical explanation, but the true believers aren’t interested in it.

      In many such cases, it’s outright fraud. The statue is rigged or some ‘well meaning’ cleric is doping the statue. Is it really blood? Is it human blood?
      And, of course, the ‘”meaning” is open to wide and wild interpretation.

        I remember a story several years ago about an image of Jesus that was created by the sun shining through an outhouse window. And the “faithful” lined up to worship! I wish I had the story.

          There were people going to a spot some where below the SF bay area near the coast to watch the sun set hoping to see an image of jesus appear but the CHP had put a stop to it because after staring at the sun they couldn’t see but would drive anyway and wreck.

        I agree. But hey, it’s a great way for the church to drum up some business. Selling the threat of eternal damnation has lost it’s luster and people just aren’t buying it anymore, so why not spice it up a bit with a statue of a crying virgin?

    it’s painted cast iron so it’s just rust. this happens all the time in South America……jesus in a taco….jesus in the stucco….jesus in the clouds…..Mary in the toast….can’t you see it?

      If this statue is cast iron ? Somebody spent alot forming the mold with impeccable results or some bondo under the paint for a smooth finish
