Charlotte could lose NBA all-star game because of anti-trans law

Good to see more and more companies and organizations standing up against bigotry.

The NBA responded to the passing of North Carolina’s HB2 law regarding sexual-orientation implications for businesses and employment discrimination restrictions with a strongly worded statement indicating that the 2017 All-Star Game in Charlotte could be in danger if the law stands.

Despite North Carolina’s governor issuing an executive order to clarify certain elements of the law in an effort to quell widespread outrage and threats of business removal from multiple powerful entities, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver specifically reasserted the league’s position Thursday that if the bill stands, the league will move the 2017 All-Star Game.

keep the money leaving. i said it. it’s gonna take revenue to shut this crap down. (well, i think we all said it in one way or another.) and if he changes his mind and repeal it, then it most certainly mean he’s in between a rock and a hard place. do i let the phony “christians” and the bigoted “GOPissers” down, or do i cave in to the ALL MIGHTY DOLLAR? will his blasphemy “god” understand?

Right wingers are constantly insisting that the best cure for social ills is the free market.

As the saying goes, be careful what you wish for.

    Good on you NBA…

Good. Institutionalizing blatant bigotry should have tangible consequences.

and i love it. you have to be one arrogant pos, to think that this would tie over with everyone in this country, to even begin to think there would be no consequences is very suggestive of someone who is completely shallow.

Great! Just do it anyway regardless whether they repeal their bigoted law or not to give them something to remember that it’s not ok. So that they’ll think twice and hard before making similar bigoted laws in the future, and also be a lesson to other repuke states.

thinking at all, let alone twice, is not going to happen.

I’d like to see the hicks in the state legislatures that pass these unconstitutional measures, all the time knowing they will be ruled so after taxpayer dollars are spent defending them- be made personally responsible to repay the legal costs. It’s like an epidemic. The only reason they keep doing it is so they can go back home to their districts and brag how they ‘stood up’ for family values. Make them pony up the money and see how quickly this BS ends.
