Mississippi governor signs law allowing guns in churches

Mississippians will now be able to protect their Bibles with guns.

Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant on Friday signed into law a bill that will allow members of some churches in the state to undergo training to carry guns inside houses of worship for protection, in response to last year’s massacre at a South Carolina church.

The Mississippi state House of Representatives voted April 5 by a count of 85-35 to send the bill to Bryant’s desk for final approval or veto.

The Church Protection Act, as sent to Bryant’s desk, allows individuals selected by the church’s governing body to carry weapons into the church for protection purposes. It also does not require people to have a permit to carry a holstered weapon.

This is the exact thing Madison and Jefferson was worried about.

That is why there is no mention of religion in the constitution.

They were aware of the catastrophe that happened in Europe over religion.

    Forgive me for wondering…
Were guns banned form churches in Mississippi before this useless law was enacted?
Mississippi has far more pressing problems than guns allowed in churches when guns were not already banned.
Mississippi ranks 50th on almost every scale of US civilization, education, teen pregnancy, obesity, early death, healthcare, infant mortality……
I could go on and on.

He would just ask his Big Daddy to use his Zappo Finger. No need for guns.

What about poverty? What about illiteracy? So a law that allows you to take a gun to church is more important? What a lack of concern and sensitivity these MS lawmakers have for the poor people of MS…This is typical of redneck rube politics.
