4-4 Supreme Court tie hands union big win
You’d think this would inspire Republicans to allow hearings for a centrist judge.
Conservatives bent on crippling the power of public employee unions lost their best opportunity in years Tuesday when the Supreme Court deadlocked over a challenge to the fees those unions collect from non-members. Rather than seeking to reschedule the case for their next term, the justices simply announced they were tied 4-4 — a verdict which leaves intact the decision of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit upholding the fee collections.

Good!
Go Unions
Suzanne McFly March 29th, 2016 at 15:09
Maybe this is the conservative judges telling Congress to do their jobs and vote on the nominee or more verdicts like this one will be reached.
arc99 March 29th, 2016 at 15:19
One can only hope the conservative justices have that level of commitment to doing their jobs, regardless of the politics.
In the meantime, we can enjoy the delicious karma of Mitch McConnell being directly responsible for a big legal victory by organized labor.
Suzanne McFly March 29th, 2016 at 15:27
Well we don’t have a view into the chambers like we do the Senate or Congress, it is hard for me to see these judges acting like the whiny morons that fill the elected office positions. I prefer to believe they are the adults in the room.
I love Karma, she has been missing and has a lot of work to catch up on.
mistlesuede March 29th, 2016 at 16:25
Oh yeah!
mistlesuede March 29th, 2016 at 16:26
I believe that there is a suit coming up regarding a woman’s right to choose. Let’s hope that bounces back down to the lower court decision also.
Thanks Mitch McChinless.

Hey republicans
amersham46 March 29th, 2016 at 18:32
I want those good union wages but I don`t want to have to pay my own way
Tim Coolio March 29th, 2016 at 18:59
We workers will not be serfs for the republicans rich buddies!
CandideThirtythree March 29th, 2016 at 19:32
yea, that is what all republicans say too
Tim Coolio March 29th, 2016 at 19:00
See that republicans!
THE COURT HAS ALREADY SHIFTED TO THE LEFT AND I LOVE IT!
edsfarm March 29th, 2016 at 22:51
Why do you think this is good? I live in CT. It’s a liberal state, a microcosm of liberal America. The state is going bankrupt (like liberal America) but the unions continue to want more and more. When they lose their jobs maybe they will realize they didn’t have it so bad. It’s all about GREED !!!
Tim Coolio March 29th, 2016 at 23:07
Republican trickle down / tax cuts for the rich economics
CRASHES AND BURNS EVERY TIME!
edsfarm March 29th, 2016 at 22:41
This is why the country needs a conservative justice to stop the nonsense with unions.
Mike March 29th, 2016 at 23:14
What nonsense would that be exactly…???
Just a couple of things unions gave us;
Weekends without work
All breaks at work, including your lunch breaks
Paid vacation
Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
Sick leave
Social Security
Minimum wage
Civil Rights Act/Title VII – prohibits employer discrimination
8-hour work day
Overtime pay
Child labor laws
Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA)
40-hour work week
Workers’ compensation (workers’ comp)
Unemployment insurance
Pensions
Workplace safety standards and regulations
Employer health care insurance
Collective bargaining rights for employees
Wrongful termination laws
Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA)
Whistleblower protection laws
Employee Polygraph Protection Act (EPPA) – prohibits employers from using a lie detector test on an employee
Veteran’s Employment and Training Services (VETS)
Compensation increases and evaluations (i.e. raises)
Sexual harassment laws
Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA)
Holiday pay
Employer dental, life, and vision insurance
Privacy rights
Pregnancy and parental leave
Military leave
The right to strike
Public education for children
Equal Pay Acts of 1963 & 2011 – requires employers pay men and women equally for the same amount of work
Laws ending sweatshops in the United States
And I’m sure you feel the same about Police, Fire, and Homeland Security Unions too…
whatthe46 March 29th, 2016 at 23:18
you won’t be hearing from him anytime soon.
edsfarm March 30th, 2016 at 00:37
Yes, you heard from me. Read the above idiot!
whatthe46 March 30th, 2016 at 00:56
you’re confusing me with your sister/mother fk’n inbred. don’t do it again.
fahvel March 30th, 2016 at 05:20
well well stated 46 – and that’s from a lively 43. depressing to admit that the only pig on eds farm is ed.
edsfarm March 30th, 2016 at 10:07
I like that……inbred. NOT being politically correct and my name being Ed, I think I’ll change my screen name to inbr-ED.
edsfarm March 30th, 2016 at 00:36
Yes, you will hear from me. I’m self employed. No paid vacations, sick leave, unemployment insurance, pension, health care, holiday pay. I can go on and on. I was out of work a week this year (without pay) because of a hernia operation. One month (without pay) this year because of a heart operation. Doctors recommended that I not go back to work for at least 6 months. Had to though. Nothing coming in. Didn’t collect disability during those times and I have to hear about union workers belly aching about cost of living raises !!! It is nonsense. But I’m not bitter. I don’t want anything from anyone if I didn’t work for it. But it’s people like whatthe46, that work the system and think they are entitled to everything, that is causing the country to go bankrupt.
whatthe46 March 30th, 2016 at 00:55
you can’t get all pissy because you choose to cut grass for a living while working for yourself. apparently it sounds as though you’re not very good at what you do if you don’t have a savings or health insurance.
edsfarm March 30th, 2016 at 10:01
No, I’m very good at my profession. I have savings and health insurance. Just saying it’s harder when you don’t qualify for assistance. I don’t need Bernie’s help but I imagine that’s who you’ll be voting for.
whatthe46 March 30th, 2016 at 00:57
as for the bankruptcy issue, that’s your racist hero tRump.
fahvel March 30th, 2016 at 05:18
if you don’t want anything from anyone, then just go out and suffer and pine but it’s all on you fella – you made the poo pile independently, so now lie in it with pride.
Mike March 30th, 2016 at 10:03
Sorry to hear about your medical problems, hope it improves for you…
Now….
1st off, you are bitter…the sooner you realize that the better off you’ll be. 2nd, you know nothing about whatthe46, and didn’t hesitate to take the opportunity to disparage her…only proving how bitter you are.
I see you didn’t list a single thing you could identify as “nonsense” so I’ll just write you off as another angry voter who thinks the grass is greener on the other side of the fence.

I am getting a salary of 6700 dollars each week. Over a year ago I was in a horrible condition ,,pdf jobless and no bank credit . Thanks to one of my friends who showed me a way where I was able to gather myself and making average of 58 d/h. So it can change your life as it has changed mine. Why not try this.

are you speaking with tongue in cheek or is your tongue the thing oozing thoughts out of an empty and totally useless brain?
