Report: Rubio allies pushed Cruz alleged scandal for months
The Daily Beast says the origin of charges Ted Cruz has had affairs is more complex than a Trump-Cruz mud fight.
Click here for reuse options!A half-dozen GOP operatives and media figures tell The Daily Beast that Cruz’s opponents have been pushing charges of adultery for at least six months now—and that allies of former GOP presidential hopeful Marco Rubio were involved in spreading the smears.
For months and months, anti-Cruz operatives have pitched a variety of #CruzSexScandal stories to a host of prominent national publications, according to Republican operatives and media figures. The New York Times, The Washington Post, Bloomberg News, Politico, and ABC News—reporters at all those outlets heard some version of the Cruz-is-cheating story. None of them decided to run with rumors. Those publications’ representatives all declined to provide on-the-record comments when The Daily Beast reached out for this article.
Breitbart News, the notoriously Trump-friendly conservative outlet, was also pitched the story of Cruz’s extramarital affairs, according to a source close to the publication. That source said an operative allied with Marco Rubio—but not associated with his official campaign—showed the publication a compilation video of Cruz and a woman other than his wife coming out of the Capitol Grille restaurant and a hotel on Tuesdays and Thursdays. But the outlet opted not to report on the video, which demonstrated no direct evidence of an affair.
“We got it from a Rubio ally,” said the source. “It was too thin, so [Breitbart’s Washington political editor Matt Boyle] decided not to run it. There was no way to verify the claims.”

“…There was no way to verify the claims.”” that’s a joke right? since when has any of them ever verified anything they write about. hilarious.

I have seen campaigns espouse total falsehoods and blatantly lie over the years, but never have I seen such a disgusting display as witnessed over the past several months. The U. S. sends monitors to foreign countries to ensure a fair, democratic vote all the while being the laughing stock of the world. I truly worry about the country that my grandkids will grow up in.

I think Zeus and Hera would just sit back on Mount Olympus and laugh themselves silly at these fools.

If something did happen at that hotel, I’m sure there’s hotel hallway security footage to shed light on things, that is, if they went into a room together.
whatthe46 March 25th, 2016 at 22:13
if it was months ago, there’s no tape of it now. they only keep those tapes for 30 days at most. if there’s no incident that has happened requiring them in that frame, it’s likely gone.
CHOCOL8MILK March 25th, 2016 at 22:17
Hmm good point. If they did have a tryst, I wonder if one of them paid for the room with something traceable like debt/credit card…
whatthe46 March 25th, 2016 at 22:22
you can get a room with a card when checking in, and use cash when you check out. that way you don’t have any related charges. the card is used for the purpose of, if you will, security deposit.

Sadly, I had heard about this already months ago, and actually thought, this possibly could be why his wife left him in DC and moved back to Texas, had an emotional breakdown and struggles with depression . I am sorry, but even if this is not true, I just don’t like Ted Cruz. I was appalled when he blamed Mr.Trump for the violence at his Chicago rally. For the safety of all, Mr. Trump cancelled the rally. He wasn’t even there and the majority of those attending just left, yet, the paid protesters, including BLM were throwing bottles at officers, preventing ambulances and cars from leaving the rally, waving communist flags, trampling on the American flag, etc. Mr.Trump nor his supporters had anything to do do with that. That was just some kind of anti-cop, anti-American mess. Then he blamed Mr. Trump for the Brussels bombings, which even the media were saying was ridiculous as did our government and Brussels government. What Mr. Cruz said, sounded bizarre, even for him. Now he blamed Mr. Trump for this story, when in fact, social media and one in particular, Alan Colmes, stated this wasn’t Mr. Trump, but allies and supporters of Mr. Rubio, who had been pushing the story for months. Mr. Cruz needs to step back and take a good look at his own actions and stop blaming others. And let’s not forget, it was Cruz’s anti-Trump Pac and that scum in DC, Liz Mair, who first created that mean-spirited ad about Mrs.Trump, which is why Mr. Trump bit back. Cruz started this nasty game and needs to own it all. Hope this ends soon. I think a lot of us are fed up.

And why he does not denounce Glenn Beck for calling million of Christians, who are supporters of Mr. Trump–“not true Christians and fake Christians”, is beyond me.

Nice piece of fiction….do you also write non-fiction…???
Nicki Calif March 28th, 2016 at 14:42
Apparently, you are not following the candidates, news reports, interviews, articles, past or current events. You not believing it, doesn’t make it false.
Mike March 28th, 2016 at 14:45
You’re believing it doesn’t make it true either…have a nice day

As much as I dislike the gop, Trump, and Cruz…I really dislike dishonesty, and lies a lot more…this whole episode is truly a sad epitome of our national elections…and of the republican party as a whole…I really can’t wait for this nightmare to end…
