Former top CENTCOM Air Force general removed for ‘unprofessional relationship’
The U.S. Air Force on Thursday said it had removed its assistant vice chief of staff, Lieutenant General John Hesterman, after an investigation showed he had engaged in an unprofessional relationship with a married female Air Force officer about five years ago.
Hesterman, who previously commanded the U.S. Air Force component of U.S. Central Command, gave up his duties Thursday and submitted a retirement request, the Air Force said in a statement. It said it was still reviewing whether to downgrade Hesterman’s rank for engaging in an unprofessional relationship with a lower-ranking officer, and for engaging in conduct unbecoming an officer and gentleman.
“These e-mail exchanges were found to have constituted an unprofessional relationship. The investigation did not uncover any additional misconduct,” the Air Force said.
Between this and David Petraeus’s bad behavior, someone could make a whole lot of money producing a new TV reality series, “The Real Housewives of CENTCOM.” ‘Nuff said

For having an affair…?? Sounds harsh…nobody traded secrets and the woman isn’t complaining which means it was consensual…bad judgement…? Hell yea, Conduct unbecoming…probably…lose your pension after 30-40 years…???

The military is harsh on people who have affairs and get caught.People normally aren’t punished (they just try to keep it out of public eye), but when it happens punishment is a bit much……http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/explainer/2003/12/what_happens_to_cheating_soldiers.html

He would only be punished if he was enlisted, as an officer he get a stern talking to and is shuffled off to be commander of some other group till he decides to retire.

Another juicy story about an Officer and a not-so-Gentleman?

Every branch of the military has been a cauldron of hot-bodies jumping in and out of bed with each other for time immemorial. The real story is in the hypocrisy that turns a blind eye to it as long as it isn’t “in the public eye”. As soon as it becomes “public” knowledge, the top brass mucky mucks (who are scared shitless of it being them next time) feel they have to posture and gnash teeth, say “Oh, how could this happen?”, and ruin a good man’s career.

True. And the same hypocrisy extends to politicians and the clergy.
