Maine town want to change name of Katies Crotch Road
Gee, I wonder why.
Click here for reuse options!Board of Selectman Chairman Charles Taylor says the thefts occur so frequently that “you would think every dorm room in the state of Maine should have one by now.”
Katie Crotch Road sits off Route 16 connecting Embden and New Portland. It’s not clear how it got its name.
A previous motion to rename the street failed in 2012.

A family with the last name Katie used to live at the intersection with Route 16, and “crotch” referred to the V shape of the intersection.
As a former police officer in Maine I have recovered the following stolen signs. Annis road, Jackass Annie road and Tewltown road.

I wonder how often Intercourse, PA, has to replace their signs. I found this at Wiki: “Because of the town’s unusual name, the sign posts for the town are frequently targeted by thieves.”
Doesn’t say how frequently though.

I believe it’s Amish country.

As often as they can get it.

Sounds like a good time for the Historical Preservation Society to swing into action. But in a country in which the correct and innocent use of the word “niggardly” can ignite a race riot, I can understand their reluctance to become involved….
DownriverDem March 5th, 2016 at 21:02
Just how do you use that word?
Bill March 5th, 2016 at 21:12
To mean stingy or miserly. How else?

If you visit Wollaston, Northamptonshire, UK, there is a road named Bellend!
