yeah….seems like a lot of rock and rollers who are in the mid seventies….and pop stars….are fading I think just a bit early…I think it shows that being a musician is not an easy life….
Okay. what is with this age number that is catching so many artists? It is creepy.
I saw Sha Na Na, which seems like a million years ago now, when they played for a great Christmas party for the steel company I worked for. Very talented and fun group. I got hammered that night.
Rest in peace Mr. Baker.
I never saw Sha Na Na. I did see Flash Cadillac and the Continental Kids who did an excellent live performance. I wonder if they’re still among the living.
I’ve never heard of those two groups, but from the sound of their names, they must be very similar to Sha Na Na. Their music was just so much fun.
We’ve lost a number of musicians lately, and although they were much older than I, it is starting to make ME feel old. :(
Told you I’ve never heard of them! I thought it was two bands! Laughing at myself right now.
I barely remember American Graffiti anymore. :(
Here is a taste of Sha Na Na. Check out the gold lame’ outfits! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3He_gyNG6A
No cover could get quite that… appeal. Written by Phil Spector and collaborators, it’s a signature sound for Ronnie & Co. Noted as the embodiment of “Wall of Sound” production, it is listed by Rolling Stone as #22 in their “500 Greatest Songs of All Time.”

We just saw Bruce Springsteen Thursday night. At 66 he is in better shape than a lot of men twenty years younger. I don’t know how he does it.

It says “retort.” I don’t think it is affiliated with that hell hole.

In honor of Lennie, and as a rare treat of a collaboration, here’s Shanana with Ronnie Spector and The Ronettes.

I really like the female voice (what I called, in my younger and less enlightened days, chick singers.) And Ronnie stands out in a crowd.
