Post-Iowa Campaign Carnage: Who Will Be Next Out?

Posted by | February 3, 2016 16:46 | Filed under: Politics

In less than two days since the Iowa Caucus doors closed, four candidates – Democrat Martin O’Malley and Republicans Mike Huckabee, Rand Paul, and Rick Santorum – have announced they are “suspending” (mandatory legalese for “pulling the plug on”) their campaigns.

As it looks unlikely that Democrats Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are suddenly going to drop out, which Republican will be next to flee the cuckoo’s nest?

I am going out on a limb here, but in order, the next three will be Fiorina, Christie, and Carson.

    • tracey marie February 3rd, 2016 at 17:26

Carson is taking a respite from the grueling work of campaigning, he might go next

To get some fresh clothes, he said.

If tRump looses NH his ego will explode, he will fire his staff and then jump out of the top floor of Trump Tower. And once again the people will be happy.

  3. StoneyCurtisll February 3rd, 2016 at 17:07

I money is on Crazy Carly to drop out next.

  4. Nightflyer February 3rd, 2016 at 17:23

My guess is that Fiorina will drop out next, followed by His Corpulence (Christie), and then Dr. Carson, but the drop-outs will not be immediate — most likely after Super Tuesday, when they get hammered by the voters. They’ll hang in after New Hampshire.

      Gawd I hope so! ;o)

      • Nightflyer February 4th, 2016 at 08:48

When Christie steps off the stage, some other candidates will fly into the air, from the see-saw effect…

    • Dwendt44 February 4th, 2016 at 01:01

Jeb has the money to hang on and as that money is an easy asset to fiddle with, he’ll hang in as long as possible.

      • Nightflyer February 4th, 2016 at 08:50

Probably…but I understand he had another embarrassment yesterday or the other night, when he spoke to his followers, gave a rambling talk, and nobody applauded at the end. He had to say, “Please clap,” and then they did. It was all caught on YouTube, so Jeb is going to be facing a lot of comic abuse on this one.

It’s like taking a poll of your own campaign staff and finding yourself trailing…

The other week we were talking about when we were young and she said she would have enjoyed hanging out…I was one of those quiet Catholic school girls that was quietly defiant.

                    • tracey marie February 4th, 2016 at 10:36

She is something else, extremely endearing and funny.

I think everyone does. She and canada keep the place laughing and covered in “smiles”

                    • allison1050 February 4th, 2016 at 11:58

Do you remember when she was painting? I could relate to it, I’ve still got stripes on my living room wall that have been there 8 yrs. The 1st person that dares say anything will be the one to buy the paint and well…paint!

                    • tracey marie February 4th, 2016 at 12:10

That is great. I bought the paint and all the junk that goes with it. still not done and it would be easy, white on white, one coat and done.

                    • allison1050 February 4th, 2016 at 12:40

The same with me, there’s white, navjo white, then we get into the off whites of which there are many and gawd damn the creams! It took the last 2 years I lived in San Francisco to decide what color to paint the walls in the still hadn’t been built house in NM! I made that major decision just days before I was going to be nailed to the cross by my contractor but it did come out beautifully…a strange shade of apricot that gave the appearance of changing as the sun moved. You could visibly see people relax more. Picking paint colors is major!

                    • tracey marie February 4th, 2016 at 12:44

That would be pretty, the apricot catching the rays and changin…like a sunset or sunrise.

                    • allison1050 February 4th, 2016 at 12:48

Exactly Tracey but the decision in no way was easy. Clemans problem was the best though. I gotta get her to tell the story again. ;o)

  6. Mike February 3rd, 2016 at 18:19

Crazy Carly should have dropped Monday night along with Grain Silo Ben. Chrispy Chreme with pull the plug right after he gets blown out in NH.
Rubio will be the big winner in NH with numbers equal to or greater than Trump’s, Cruz will come in 3rd. Trump will win SC but lose everything after that to Rubio…Rubio is the only candidate the establishment will back for the simple reason he could win FL (Jeb! was their 1st hope be he never showed promise)
Trump will fall apart in the early caucus states NE, KS, AK, etc, because he’s just not politically savvy or organized enough…pros like Cruz and Rubio will feed of his dead and we’ll eventually wind up with Blondie in July…
I threw it out there, let’s see what happens…!!!

Post Iowa Hillary carnage-:” I love them coin tosses”– “My girl Huma Abedin was joking when she sent out e-mail to my staff saying I was “often confused”.

  11. SwampGas February 4th, 2016 at 03:35

I have no idea why Carly is still there. Did she lose a bet? She’ll leave soon and be closely followed by Jeb and then Dozing Dr. Carson.

    • bpollen February 4th, 2016 at 04:44

Hey… I LIKE Margaret Hamilton. She just played a witch. Carly lives it.

One of my pals says you cannot get through a day without hearing or seeing at least one reference to “The Wizard of Oz.”
