NY Times: Tamir Rice Would Be Alive Today If He Were White
The New York Times offers this in an editorial:
Tamir Rice of Cleveland would be alive today had he been a white 12-year-old playing with a toy gun in just about any middle-class neighborhood in the country on the afternoon of Nov. 22, 2014.
But Tamir, who was shot to death by a white police officer that day, had the misfortune of being black in a poor area of Cleveland, where the police have historically behaved as an occupying force that shoots first and asks questions later. To grow up black and male in such a place is to live a highly circumscribed life, hemmed in by forces that deny your humanity and conspire to kill you.

Of course he’d be alive if he was white. So would Trayvon Martin and hundreds of others who were murdered/executed with impunity.
In the 50’s they’d just be lynched, but the NRA has made it easier and less conspicuous with a simple tool.
Sickening!

How is the NRA responsible for what government employees do?

I wonder if the person that called the police was white or Black.

Really sad and so true.
The pigs are licensed to kill.

Regrettably Tamir Rice is only one of many

What a handsome young kid. Of course if he was white this would never have happened. That’s a given. The entire episode would have been handled differently from beginning to the horrible end yesterday where the incompetent cops are not going to be charged thanks to a system of white privilege and law enforcement protection of their own.
