Dog Gives Her Life To Protect Owner From Knife Attack
Lucy jumped in front of Victoria Snyder’s mother-in-law as Snyder’s ex-boyfriend approached.
“If it weren’t for that dog it would have been a different scene,” said Lisa Potts, the mother-in-law about to be attacked. “She saved all our lives, she really did,” added Potts.
The man –Walter Williams – ended up stabbing Lucy and wounding her three times, killing the dog. The family tried to save the dog, but it was to no avail.
“I applied as much pressure as I could to it to try to save her life, but she was a fighter and she did good, she really did,” Potts said, reports Unilad. “If it wasn’t for her, you know he could’ve probably stabbed all of us.”
“I’m about to break down in tears now, my heart is heavy cause I hate that happened to her, “Potts added. “I was calling her name, comforting her, rubbing her head, making sure she was still alert.”
The dog was rushed to an animal hospital where she went into cardiac arrest because she had lost so much blood. She died the next day.

Thank goodness, finally a story about pitbulls where they aren’t being demonized as unholy creatures from the bowels of Hell. RIP sweetie.

People who have never known or cared for a Pit Bull Terrier are almost always the ones to decry the breed.
With the exception of those scum who fight them for $$ (may their genitals receive a thousand paper cuts), anyone who has ever raised one knows them to be loyal, lovable, goofy as f*ck sometimes (seriously…it’s like having your own personal court jester!), and one of the most loving and trusting dogs on the planet.

We had a chihuaha when I was young, and my brother AND grandparents had pit bulls.
If the Bitsy and Satan (believe it or not,Satan was the Grandparents dog!) had been as bitey and high-strung as Toro (the chihuahua), I’d be scar tissue from head to toe… but never a problem from either of them (Heck, my dad had to have my brother put Bitsy in a pen one time when he(dad) was yelling at him, because she wasn’t having any of it.)
FatRat December 23rd, 2015 at 17:46
Chihuahuas like Pits get a bad rap. I had one and she wasn’t a biter but she didn’t like children or any animals coming in her yard. Neighbor had a Pit and it either climbed the fence or dug out once every three months. Kept coming in the yard very friendly but my chihuahua didn’t like the intrustions and went after him like she was a 500 lbs Grizzy. Pit always sauntered off, never any problems but my chihuahua would get seriously cheesed off for the intrusion. Also really bad about attacking squirrles. At least trying, never caught one.
Hirightnow December 23rd, 2015 at 17:51
They’re really not good dogs to have around little children (too grabby when they’re <5, which tends to scare a dog that size, where a pit bulldog just tends to say"meh" if it's trained to be around children)…My OTHER grandparents had a chihuahua when I was older, and it wasn't overly friendly, but it never bit me.
FatRat December 23rd, 2015 at 17:54
Depends on how they are treated. If I was to yank your tiny arm and lift you by it, you’d get snappy too. lol You have to treat a Chihauah like any other dog. Or they can and WILL learn that growling and biting is acceptable and beneficial. People don’t realize that if you don’t treat a small dog as a dog and not a toy it can get behaviroal problems. Not around men, dogs becomes fearful around men. Not around children becomes fearful around children. She loved men she felt more relaxed if you were 250 or heavier. Smaller humans were not trusted at first, they were a foreign concept.

Exactlly, my little yorkie has the same rules as the 2 borders.
tracey marie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:03
That is beyond adorable.
Annie December 23rd, 2015 at 17:38
You read my mind and beat me to the punch. My 11-year-old Granddog has been the most loving thing ever. She has entertained us, sustained us and loved us unconditionally. She just lost her right front leg to osteosarcoma (she’s my profile pic), and the thought of losing her to cancer is not an option. She’s a fighter and she’s getting all the help she needs to beat it. She is the best dog in the universe!!
Hirightnow December 23rd, 2015 at 17:42
I wish her the best. Give her a butt-scratch from me.
Annie December 23rd, 2015 at 17:44
Thanks. And I’ll add a belly rub to that!!
Hirightnow December 23rd, 2015 at 17:45

tracey marie December 23rd, 2015 at 17:44
and she is beautiful.I commented how pretty she is on another thread. Health for her.
Annie December 23rd, 2015 at 17:46
I saw your comment on the other thread. Thank you so much. She really is one of those once-in-a-lifetime dogs. We’re lucky she came our way.
tracey marie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:04
That is how I feel about all my dogs, lucky they chose me.
Annie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:07
I have always felt that about my dogs. From my childhood, stray dogs always managed to find me, and they still do!! Now, I travel to Mexico and help rescue dogs there.
tracey marie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:12
We are known as the dog couple…strays or lost dogs follow us home . People drop dogs off in my front courtyard knowing I will find their home or a home for them. I rescue and foster border collies, occasionaly a puppy, I can house train any dog in 24 hours, can’t pick up poop without wretching.
Annie December 23rd, 2015 at 20:05
When I lived in Brooklyn, I fostered for a boxer rescue. I don’t do new puppies unless I really have to, but senior dogs are the piece de resistance!
tracey marie December 23rd, 2015 at 20:50
You are so correct, so many older dogs are ignored. They are the perfect addition to a family that needs a refined, easy going, appreciative and perfect family pet.
Annie December 23rd, 2015 at 20:54
Yep. They just come on in and make themselves at home. No issues. No grudges. Just want a soft place to lay their heads, a full bowl of food and lots of love from their humans. So easy. There is nothing in the world like an old dog.
tracey marie December 23rd, 2015 at 21:01
I cry when I think of all the rejection they receive. I adopted an older bichon, very tiny 10 lbs. he was set to be put down. He had cataracts, horrible skin, and many other issues. We had him for 4.5 years, he had the most beautiful coat and personality.
Annie December 23rd, 2015 at 21:11
Ah, bless.
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:58
you are a saint annie….incredible….
Annie December 23rd, 2015 at 20:03
Really I’m not. I just love animals and can’t stand to know they’re suffering.
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 17:46
I love dogs…but not a fan of the breed to unpredictable…this was unfortunately bred into them by unscrupulous breeders…we need stricter laws about breeding and better enforcement …there are people out there who are breeding dogs who should not own pets…as a kid my family routinely took dumped dogs and dogs from closed breeding farms….I think this is the area of the problem we need to work on….
FatRat December 23rd, 2015 at 17:48
I’ve been bitten several times, have a slight phobia of dogs I don’t know. About 100% of every Pit I every met was very chill. Seems the smaller the dog, the worse the attitude.
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 17:58
most frequent biters…german shepards, pitt bulls, rottweilers….the thing that distinguishes pitt bulls is their jaws are more deadly….most lethal bite…so I don’t blame you…little dogs can be nippers as well but they don’t do the damage (ie maybe a little skin break)….I like the utility dogs that were bred for “soft mouth” that is to bring back game unharmed ….they are naturally inclined toward restraining their bite (not doing damage) how ever they are very mouthy and inveterate “chewers” love to chew and drool all over you and their teeth are sharp when they are young….if they make you nervous stick with cats…although we had one that I named “chester the molester” because he was a biter….;)
FatRat December 23rd, 2015 at 18:02
I wouldnt say that those breeds bite more. Maybe they are more widely reported. As you say smaller dogs nips/bites aren’t as severe. They are also undereported. I’ve been bit by a Doberman and a Shepard in the 1970s.
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:18
yeah…dobermans as well….other nervous dogs…setters…although they don’t do a lot of damage generally…cockerspaniels were one time listed as a most frequent biter….;)
FatRat December 23rd, 2015 at 18:22
I don’t blame the Doberman or the Shephard, its was the time. Every *sshole wants a tough dog and a gun. When Dobies were the dangerous dog, they were bought by *ssholes. When Sherpherds became danger dog, they were bought by *ssholes. Now it is the time of the Pitbull and Rottweiller with *sshole owners. During slavery time the *ssholes liked to use Hutning Dogs/Coon Dogs to hunt down fugitive slaves, they were the ultimate dangerous dog. Humanity keeps sucking and choosing a new dangerous dog
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:34
agree….when put in situations with an azz hole owner it’s no wonder incidences will occur….
FatRat December 23rd, 2015 at 18:42
It’s a horrible Catch-22. *sshole wants to be Billy Bad *ss and buys a dog and trys to make it mean. Beatings, left on a chain, no love, no hope. It is really sad that breeds come and go in popularity. It breaks my heart when you see a Pit used for fighting rescued. They are torn up and look like hell. Within minutes these poor creatures are licking the faces of humans that just rescued them. We don’t deserve that kind of love. Humanity just sucks big time more often than not.
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:46
it’s similar to the guy who has to by the monster truck with the monster tires…and then just drive in around town…to compensate for the small pee pee ;)
FatRat December 23rd, 2015 at 19:49
Yeah the Jerk needs his manly status symbol. That would be a much better choice than abusing a dog.
Annie December 23rd, 2015 at 20:20
Those licks are the reward for a rescuer. Other than delighting in their medical and physical progress, pit bull kisses are the only thing that matters.
Annie December 23rd, 2015 at 17:49
I respectfully disagree. The breed has a long history as a family pet. For a long time, they were called nanny dogs because of their gentleness with children.
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 17:52
wish they had stayed that way and not been abused by disreputable breeders…
Hirightnow December 23rd, 2015 at 17:55
Raised correctly, they can be one of the best family pets.
But you also have to teach little Timmy or Tammy that the dog is not their plaything.
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:04
yeah for children I prefer the tried and true breeds…;)
Annie December 23rd, 2015 at 17:58
The truth is, they are still that way. I’ve rescued too many dogs from fighting rings. Whether they were used for fighting or used as bait dogs, all have been nothing but sweetness and love for their rescuers. I have never been bitten or even growled at by any of those dogs.
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:03
well you are the virgin mary to them…how ever if they thought someone was threatening you or if they felt threatened they might not act with restraint out of fear…that is the unpredictability I am talking about…;)
Annie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:05
I’m so not the virgin mary! I’m not sure any individual dog of any breed wouldn’t defend his or her humans.
tracey marie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:07
My yorkie and borders will never let a stranger get close to me unless I tell them it is okay…the yorkie leads the way in protection.
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:16
my lab saved my life ;) long story….climbing, fell, ruined ankle foot…couldn’t walk on it he went for help…another time he alerted me to a fire….(next door neighbor)…..they are extremely loyal and the problems are human caused…not the fault of the animal….;)
FatRat December 23rd, 2015 at 18:07
Midgets and little women save pitbulls and have tv shows. Recently a pitbull got out of its yard and some man had to intervene because some kids thought it would be cool to beat pitbull to death. Some mamals are dangerous. I’m not afarid of Pits.
Annie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:10
Actually, doxies have topped the list of dog breeds that bite. Has been for years. The american Pit Bull Terrier isn’t even in the running. They’re always at the bottom of the list.
FatRat December 23rd, 2015 at 18:12
Pits have a very gentle nature and many Doxies. I met one who was older and didn’t like me for some reason, I never tried to pet her. She scared me and we had long distance relationship when I spoke to her walker. lol
(edit) The Dachshund was a bit nippy not the walker. lol
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:31
dauchshunds ? that was my first dog ;) she followed me to the bus never bit…but the only one I ever had of that breed ;)
Annie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:32
I’ve never known one that bit either, but I know many people who have been bitten by dachsunds.
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:35
I believe you….little dogs can have anxiety….nervousness….
F_cons December 23rd, 2015 at 18:35
I’ve found, the smaller the dog, the nastier and more likely to bite. But who cares, we’re only here to give them a good life
FatRat December 23rd, 2015 at 18:39
Those little buggers get away with murder and get far worse when they are not corrected. Think about every time you sped and didn’t get a ticket, you’d become a hellion. Also some Chihuahas are flat out jerks.
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:43
I guess I would not confer the term nasty (as in evil) on an animal…but perhaps…nervous, paranoid anxious….etc
F_cons December 23rd, 2015 at 18:47
There is no such thing as an evil dog, the rest of your descriptions, maybe. There is nothing better than a dog friend…
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:48
agree…I think generally they are little buddhas and lamas here to teach us to be better people….mostly I think paragons of patience and loyalty….
FatRat December 23rd, 2015 at 18:37
Weiner dogs have a nasty attitude, some of them, others are sweet as sugar. I think a big problem is that they get older and people play to roughlyl with them. It hurts their backs. If they don’t like their back being touched dont touch em. Problem solved or ankle bitten. lol
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:42
some people are not gentle with their dogs…I would never play with an animal in a way that would stress them out physically or mentally….the dauchshund that we had was basically a house dog…we hand fed her…she slept in my bed….;)
FatRat December 23rd, 2015 at 18:44
You have to know the animal. some have more sensetive skin and some have sore backs. But you especially have to be careful with Devil Dogs. Those guys were bred as tunnel killers. Go into the burrow and kill. Mamal version of going through VC tunnels. lol
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:51
I’ve never had one of those.. the first books I can remember checking out of the library on my own were “where the red fern grows, old yeller and charlotts web ;)
F_cons December 23rd, 2015 at 18:45
My monster – 176 lbs – loved me but if I pet her too much, the bitch would growl and show her teeth. You don’t argue with a human sized rottie, Dog I miss her
FatRat December 23rd, 2015 at 18:47
I wouldn’t let any dog growl or show me teeth. If I can’t put my hand in the food bowl safely, I don’t trust that dog. Especially woudln’t trust it around strangers, children or animals. Taht is a huge dog!
F_cons December 23rd, 2015 at 18:49
She wouldn’t hurt me, she was just a monster who used her growl and teeth to talk to me. Honestly, if she wanted to kill me, and did, I would kiss her with my dying breath – she was amazing
FatRat December 23rd, 2015 at 18:50
My error. I thought she was threatening, not talking.
F_cons December 23rd, 2015 at 18:53
No problem, she was a nightmare to anyone else, it took me a long time to be able to approach her (a rescue) but once we bonded, I found a life partner, and then, she died in my arms, I’m never going to get over that.
FatRat December 23rd, 2015 at 18:54
I’m sorry for your loss.
F_cons December 23rd, 2015 at 18:57
Thank you, I miss my monster baby, friend, reason to live so much
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:52
;) and she was just letting you know in the only way she knew how….;)
F_cons December 23rd, 2015 at 18:55
And I will always love her and miss her. She was amazing and I am lost without her. I have 2 rescue dogs and I love them but I just can’t open enough
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:13
definitely ….humans are inherently cruel (acting in offense) while generally (unless hunting) dogs are acting in defense….we took them out of their world and expect them to accommodate us …and mostly they do …and then we blame them ….for situations that are really the fault of humanity…;(
FatRat December 23rd, 2015 at 18:16
I don’t think that is true. Proto dogs evolved to be much more human like, they do not act like wolves. They can follow your sight gaze while Chimps can’t figure out which cup you are trying to indicate. Dogs have the power of inference, which is amazing. They have developed guts that are used to processing grain, they are becoming very human like.
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:28
I didn’t mean to insult their intelligence…I think they are highly intelligent we don’t give them enough credit…but in survival or abusive situations they are expected to take it and not act out….;(
FatRat December 23rd, 2015 at 18:35
I read about some poor story where there was a drive by shooting. Think it was even the wrong house that got shot up. The two pits got shot while sitting on the couch and died shortly afterwards. The poor owners held their dying animals, there was nothing that could be done. Neither dog tried to bite the owners. Pits are pretty mellow dogs and are known as the American Nanny Dog. They are great with children. I’ve seeen countless toddlers, babies pull on their ears and never a problem. I lost my phobia of Pits when I met a dozen or so. Neighbor had two giant Pits, much friendlier than your average mutt. And mutts are very friendly.
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:37
good dogs almost always have good owners…;)
F_cons December 23rd, 2015 at 18:42
The worst day in my life was when my 176 lb, nightmare monster, finally gave up. She was a horror who would destroy anything new in the house, and yet, sit down, then lean against me when I would come home from work, and knock me down. Dear dog, I would so give my pitiful remaining years to give her another kiss
Suzanne McFly December 23rd, 2015 at 18:21
I also found a bait dog and I adopted him. Once he was in a loving home and he realized he no longer had anything to fear, he was the sweetest animal I have ever known. He was with me for 10 years, last year he was diagnosed with cancer on his kidney. He was having a hard time walking so I had to put him down. One of the worst days of my life but he will be at the bridge waiting for me.
Annie December 23rd, 2015 at 18:25
Aww, Suzanne, I know how much you love your dogs. It’s true. Pitbulls have big loving hearts, and make fantastic pets. I’m so sorry you had to put him down. I’ve only had to do it once. It’s a huge lesson in existentialism, and it was very very hard for me. I have so many dogs at the bridge it’s ridiculous!
Suzanne McFly December 24th, 2015 at 10:03
Me too Annie, I have more than just dogs though, I have a little farm up there by now lol. That is heaven for me :)
Annie December 24th, 2015 at 10:17
I know what you mean, Suzanne. My good friend has an animal sanctuary in Cancun, and he has every kind of animal you can imagine. He’s sure to be sainted for his work with animals.
F_cons December 23rd, 2015 at 19:11
I’m sorry, I have no words, He will be waiting for you and my baby and my mom, they’ll all enjoy while they wait for us. Imagine the greeting!
Suzanne McFly December 24th, 2015 at 10:05
It will be beautiful.
Buford2k11 December 24th, 2015 at 09:34
agreed…I was fearful of the Pitties because of a neighbor who fought them….they tore up another neighbor, and killed many deer that wander past his place…but NOW, this guy in my avatar, is the best friend a person can have….He is kind, and loving with everyone….I mean everyone…He has more friends than I do….UPS, USPS, Fedex all of these drivers know him and just love my doggie…We also have a four pound Tea Cup Chihuahua who rules the roost… the little guy figured out that he could stand about ten feet in front of the big guy and bark, unafraid of retaliation….it was funny to watch…My friend is a cow dog…really….he can heard ’em up and move ’em out at my direction….the look on the cowboys faces are funny….I have had to defend him from other people who falsely accused him of killing chickens…it turned out to be their own dog doing the killing….so, I love my friend, companion, and yes, clown at times….
tracey marie December 23rd, 2015 at 17:43
How horrible, the poor dog will be waiting for you on the rainbow bridge.
maggie December 23rd, 2015 at 17:43
I hope they put the dog’s attacker away for life
Lyndia December 23rd, 2015 at 20:22
I am sorry for their loss, but give me a German Shepard. Intelligent, quick, strong, playful, and loyal.
