O’Malley: Only Two Tickets Out Of Iowa
Democratic presidential candidate Martin O’Malley was on my radio show Wednesday night discussing the Republican debate, his vision for the country and where he differs from both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. He said there are only two tickets out of Iowa, and he clearly believes he’ll have one of othem.
(AP Photo/Patrick Semansky)COLMES: When I look at last night’s Republican debate, and I look at the leading candidates on the right, Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, and these are the politics of fear, I wonder if this year is the time that what you’re talking about, a higher purpose will resonate?
O’MALLEY: Well, I’m betting that it does. I am betting that Americans are not scared stupid like so many of the unscrupulous leaders in the Republican presidential field, namely Donald Trump, believe. When democracies are attacked, as ours has been once again with the attacks in San Bernardino, we face a very grave danger from within. And that is the danger that these sort of fascist appeals from unscrupulous demagogues like Donald Trump will turn us upon one another…
COLMES: So you see a pathway for yourself? Honestly?
O’MALLEY: I absolutely do. And this is what we’re going to do. There’s usually two tickets out of Iowa, and one of them goes to the candidate that defeats expectations. And with three of us in this race, I’m the only one that can still beat expectations and then it becomes a different sort of race.

I think in this election season, what normally could happen before, will not be the case. I think Santorum had a come from behind, pun intended, win early. I’m sorry, but I don’t see O’Malley doing the same thing. Even in crazy Iowa.

This may be O’Malley’s subtle way of hinting that he’ll drop out if he doesn’t win or place in the Iowa Democratic caucus.
