A New Liberaland Is Coming

Soon, when you visit alan.com, there will be a few options.

One option will be Liberaland.com, which will look much like this site does now, but each grid you see on the front page will be a window to a different progressive website. As each site updates its content, new stories will appear, and you’ll be able to see a feed from each site by clicking on that site’s grid. You’ll then see a feed of recent stories from that site, and you will be able to click on whatever story you want and visit the site featuring that story. It will be one-stop shopping for all the great liberal content on the web.

Another option at alan.com will be a window to our new news site which will feature lots of links, videos and graphics presenting the same kind of content you get now on alan.com, but in a much easier to digest manner.  I’m not yet ready to unveil it, but if you let me know you’re interested in the comment section here, I’ll send you a link to preview it in the next few weeks, shortly before we officially launch.

Our chat room, information on my radio show, and an ongoing open thread (like this one) will be available at alan.com, but you’ll have options once you go there about where you’d like to go next.

The web is always changing, as is the way we consume news, and we strive to stay ahead of the curve.

    Yeah, send me a link to preview it. Always a good idea to know what I am doing before I have to do something. I should be able to give you some good feedback before you launch so changes can be made first.

    Hmm.. interesting news.
    I’ll hold my opinion until after everything is launched and I see it in action.

    If nothing else, a chat room sounds like fun!
    Especially for those presidential debate nights!

    thumbs up…thanks for allowing a forum where people can express themselves……I try to stay within the bounds of decency…I’m sure I occasionally cross the line….I am always ok when people let me know….some one on the hill removed a post where I posted that I would not buy GMO fish…(genetically modified fish) no obscenities….so you can’t please everyone….I never remove posts…I don’t have time for that if someone is being a jerk I just make everyone aware of it ..then ignore them…;)

      That’s exactly how I felt. But Alan said there would be two options, LiberaLand.com which would keep the format as we know it and Alan.com, with the new format.

        Hi Alan:
        I have a question about trolls. Since this site was called Liberaland and I got the impression from many threads that trolls were removed quickly, I was on a thread when someone came trolling about two weeks ago. A couple of us flagged all their comments and one moderator basically yelled at me while another said they blocked the troll after the first flags and I had the impression what we did was fine.
        I was trying to enjoy another thread this morning and it is being trolled by a Clinton hater. Should I, or should I not flag to remove this creep?
        Some of us are trying to just ignore the troll, but it’s still continuing and ruins the conversation.

          It’s fine to flag the troll. Our mods are very good at handling them.

            That’s been my experience here until that one mod got so angry. Not a nice experience for me.
            I enjoy the site and the other posters and try to help keep the occasional trolls away. That’s what makes this site unique as there are few of them and they are normally shut off quickly.
            Hopefully, I won’t have that unpleasant experience again.
