The 5% unemployment rate for October is the lowest one of the Obama presidency.
Politicians might battle over the “real” unemployment rate, but don’t be fooled: The BLS data is trusted by economists, and Friday’s new number is a key milestone for economic policy. Namely, 5 percent unemployment means we’re on the edge of the 4.9 percent level that the Federal Reserve considers as necessary for “full employment,” Sho Chandra writes for Bloomberg.
The timing couldn’t be more important; Fed economists are meeting next month, and Friday’s strong jobs report and low unemployment rate could encourage them to hike US interest rates for the first time in nearly a decade.

Unfortunately, modern perceptions of the press would indicate that this information will automatically be classified as a biased lie by all conservative pundits and news outlets. Therefore the myth that Obama has at best done nothing for jobs in this country will still be repeated and fostered by politicians communicating with Republican voters.

Typical right-wing ignorance. Whether you like it or not, he is also YOUR president and he has done one Helluva job in saving the country from the Republican disaster created the last time they tried to govern and failed miserably. Now, they are pushing for even more extreme measures after doing nothing for 7 years but obstruct and try to make the country fail. One tenth more drop in the unemployment rate and we will be at what is defined as “full employment”. Quite an accomplishment to add to Obama’s impressive legacy. And he’s there to piss you off for another year before Hillary is elected.
