She has a lot of influence on the middle class and women in particular, maybe she can shed some lights on truth. Start the discussion Oprah, this just might work as a starting point.

Yeah, all those white ladies will line up like lemmings and continue to plunk their money down for every Oprah inspired idea. Give me a break!

only white ladies watch Oprah, or are you spouting racism by saying black women are not in the miiddle class?
Robert Smithson October 26th, 2015 at 19:03
No. Only saying that the majority of Oprah watchers are white middle/upper middle class ladies. Come on, everyone knows that.
Now, I hope she goes into the history of Islam, specifically how it was spread by the sword and likewise point out todays violent tendencies and the failure of moderates to rein the faith in.

“Come on, everyone knows that.”
You keep using that phrase. Have YET to provide any support for your claims. What’s the problem… incompetence or mendacity?

This is going to be a tough one for Oprah. How will she get around the fact that women are treated as second class people and have virtually no human rights as we know them whatsoever. And if I am not mistaken, no Muslim woman is allowed an abortion either. This should definitely be interesting.

Empower women and we change the world.
Robert Smithson October 26th, 2015 at 19:04
Good luck with women getting empowered within the Islamic faith.

Notice anything about Christianity? It used to be that women were treated as second class people and had virtually no human rights whatsoever. And now they have equal rights in the eyes of the law.
St. Clement – “Every woman should be filled with shame by the thought that she is a woman…the consciousness of their own nature must evoke feelings of shame”
St. Heironymous (writer of the Vulgate bible) – “Woman is the root of all evil.”
St. John Chrysostom – “For what is a woman but an enemy of friendship, an inescapable punishment, a necessary evil, a natural temptation, a domestic danger, delectable mischief, a fault in nature, painted with beautiful colors?…The whole of her body is nothing less than phlegm, blood, bile, rheum and the fluid of digested food … If you consider what is stored up behind those lovely eyes, the angle of the nose, the mouth and the cheeks you will agree that the well-proportioned body is only a whitened sepulchre.”
Once again, facts and history show that you are an Oral Robert, but not a Rational Robert.

we have american muslims born in America…some very modern I am sure…not all are conservative…but I take your point….but would also point out that isolating ourselves from each other will not improve the conditions of women in these ME/ African?/ Indian ..etc cultures….on the contrary…practicing mutual listening and connecting on the universal truths,….human rights, education, health care , art, music, food, books, philosophy …will help individuals on both sides have a more informed understanding of “the other” …we are all related…tribal/cultural/societal/religious isolation leads to conflict….Oprah has done so much to help girls education in developing (muslim and christian) nations…and Obama’s mother worked with the world bank in a developing muslim country to improve the economic opportunities for low income women….so it’s not about approving human rights abuses and terrorism …it’s about understanding cultures and societies not like ourselves so so we can work together to peacefully co-exist….to say that every thing about a society we are in conflict with is all bad just perpetuates the conflict…also you know we have muslim representatives in congress…and there is at least one muslim mayor out there….cheers, maggie
