Pregnant Woman Left Shackled And Bleeding For Hours–Jailers Didn’t Believe She Was In Labor
Megon Riedel is suing three Jackson County, Missouri, jailers for cruel and unusual punishment as the result of an incident which occurred in 2012 when she was 39 weeks pregnant.
During that incident, Riedel alleges that jailers accused her of lying about feeling contractions and then threw her into the back of a police van for a 200+ mile transport while she was in labor. Riedel was shackled and chained. She also says she was bleeding, vomiting, and pleading for help.
According to documents filed as part of the suit, Riedel was in the early stages of labor and a doctor had informed jail staff that she was a high-risk pregnancy. Jailers were told they needed to have a plan in place because Riedel might require immediate medical assistance. The doctor’s orders were ignored and Riedel went into labor the next morning….READ MORE at LiberalAmerica

Everyone involved, jailors/drivers/everyone who ignored her or treated her with such ignorance and cruelty, needs to be fined, fired and sent to jail.
Not to mention, made to pay for her medical bills, emotional and physical torture, and for just plain being assholes who violated the law and her person, as well as endangering the life of the unborn baby.

American law enforcement sure does seem to recruit a particularly cold-hearted type of person. Either that or their training just wipes out any empathy they may have had to start with.

There have been far too many incidents involving police officers verbally or physically abusing a child or violating the civil rights of an adult … and then claiming that they thought that the suspect was reaching for a non-existent weapon … or that the “stress of the moment” was the sole reason for the officers’ outrageous conduct.
This kind of crap has likely being going on for many years, but the ability to easily create a video recording of the altercation has brought it out into the open.
With regard to this type of unacceptable conduct when interacting with the public, as well as when apprehending and processing suspects, I have no doubt that we are looking at the tip of a ‘criminally abusive’ iceberg existing among municipal law enforcement agencies across America.
Someone needs to reevaluate the process used by law enforcement to determine whether someone is psychologically fit for this line of work.

This is another horrible black mark for my state, Missouri and home town Kansas City..
Jackson County is the “promised land” where the Mormon church believes Jesus will show up in the end times..(I dont make this up, they do)
I’m pretty sure if some guy says he is Jesus, the Jackson County Sheriffs Department is gonna treat him just like they did this girl who was with child and in labor..
