Stem cells have are giving millions hope that blindness can be cured.

Professor Lyndon Da Cruz carried out the stem cell operation at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.

The procedure involves taking a single stem cell from an embryo and growing it into a “patch” of cells that can be transplanted into the eye.

Experts hope to be able to reverse vision loss in people with age-related macular degeneration (AMD).

It affects a quarter of over 60s and more than half of over 75s.

The condition causes loss of central vision, usually in both eyes.

          Science does seem to piss GOD off A lot. He gave us Polio and we found a cure. That could not have made him happy.

    But there are a couple of problems , it is being developed in the UK (to get the xenophobes howling ) and the use of stem cells ( to get the bible trumpers into a mouth foaming tizzy )

      you can best believe if one of those sob’s start losing their sight or their child and the only treatment to be received was by going to the UK, they’d be on the first flight. just like when abortion was illegal, they paid top dollars to get it done in secret. hypocrites.

    i read there is a stem cell clinic near denver colorado that’s working on knee and joint cures vs knee replacements I wonder if they are using this treatment too ?

    Macular degeneration blinded my mother and all of her siblings (except for the one who died early.) It’s slowly blinding me. A visit to Londinium may be in my future. If the glaucoma doesn’t beat me to it.
