Hawkins, TX Removes ‘Jesus Welcomes You’ Sign

At least one Christian councilwoman voted in keeping the the Constitution. Imagine a sign saying “Muhammad Welcomes You”.

“Don’t judge me. I am a Christian,” Councilwoman Sherry Davis told a Monday crowd explaining her vote to remove the sign. “Don’t judge me and say just because I voted against this that I’m not a Christian.”

The sign reading “Jesus welcomes you to Hawkins,” has been at the center of controversy since earlier this year after the Freedom From Religion Foundation sent a letter to the city council, saying it violated the separation between church and state.

Mayor Will Rogers has defended the sign saying, “Jesus represents billions of people, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that sign. I don’t think it goes against our Constitution. Jesus is part of every major religion in the world, so you can’t pin one religion on Jesus.”

Meanwhile, the retired baseball player said he was quite flattered. But since he has never visited Hawkins, TX, he does not think he is qualified to welcome anyone to town.

Meanwhile Lord Vishnu consoles Jesus and comforts him with sympathy and understanding.
Vishnu explains that it could be worse; he had to cancel orders on his “Lord Vishnu welcomes you to Hawkins” sign because Hawkins legislature/council members couldn’t believe there’s a religion in existence that has nothing what so ever to do with Jesus. Jesus felt even worse for Lord Vishnu because Lord Vishnu didn’t get his deposit back from the sign company. He apparently canceled the order after the refund deadline.

False advertising. Seems kinda like Trump University. They don’t deliver on what they are promising up front.

How is Jesus part of ‘every major religion’? Or, what does he consider ‘major’? Either way I’m confused.
