Iranian President Wishes Jews Well On Rosh Hashanah

Posted by | September 14, 2015 00:09 | Filed under: Politics Religion

President Hassan Rouhani Tweeted out well-wishes to Jews celebrating the new year.

Rouhani sent a similar message on Rosh Hashanah two years ago, shortly after he was elected. Just a few months later, however, Rouhani revealed that he does not compose his own tweets or Facebook posts; they are instead written by his “friends,” he said at the World Economic Forum in January 2014. On Christmas Day in 2013, Rouhani, Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, and the Ayatollah Ali Khamenei all tweeted Christmas wishes.

All doors open with a small crack at first.

i was going to say at least it was said, and apparently with his blessings.

It needs to start somewhere. Just like Pres. Obama and Cuba and the Iran Agreement. And, this may be a small thing but even a Ping Pong game grew large in Nixon’s day.

        • rg9rts September 14th, 2015 at 05:31

Because only Nixon could go to China

          • The Original Just Me September 14th, 2015 at 10:55

The one about Nixon, he was his own man and HE ran the show. The Committee did not control him. Not so with every Republican President since.

And was VERY lucky not to serve hard time

A lot of people forget that Xtianity, Islam and Judaism are all descendents of the same faith tradition.

    • CHOCOL8MILK September 14th, 2015 at 01:44

Mostly Christians forget that regarding Islam. I once had a conversation with a former coworker who is a Christian and thought that “Alah” was some pagan God. After an hour of conversation explaining it’s the same God…the God of Abraham, he seemed somewhat annoyed.

that’s why they are pissy people. the truth makes them angry.

        • The Original Just Me September 14th, 2015 at 10:49

It is hard to have two opinions, Right and Wrong, when there is only their ONE opinion.

      • bpollen September 14th, 2015 at 04:47

You gnawed through one of the pillars of his faith. Can’t feel quite so special when you ain’t Unique!

        • The Original Just Me September 14th, 2015 at 10:47

That is the old, I’m Right and the rest of you seven and a half Billion people are wrong syndrome.

            Their problem not yours

            • The Original Just Me September 15th, 2015 at 12:10

A guy needs to have a little fun once in awhile so why not make a Stupid look even more STUPID ?

      • The Original Just Me September 14th, 2015 at 10:42

Never try to educate or inform a Christian. You will burn out their brains mother board.

    • The Original Just Me September 14th, 2015 at 10:41

All it takes is a different street address on their church buildings to say. Mine is Right and yours is Wrong.

    • AmusedAmused September 14th, 2015 at 15:32

People don’t forget. They just consider related religions false or heretical.

      • bpollen September 14th, 2015 at 15:36

Actually, they DO. I have people argue the point with me, claiming that they are NOT related… and then end up admitting that they HAD heard that fact. I’ll take my personal experience of people who HAVE over your assertion that they don’t…

      • Bunya September 15th, 2015 at 14:22

“They just consider related religions false or heretical.”
So do Christians. And they had some pretty sick torture techniques for people who they though might be heretical. Oh, and let’s not forget the witch burnings.

I’m interested to know if Nothankyu or any GOP right wing Christians have sent out similar message that include Islam.

    • rg9rts September 14th, 2015 at 05:29

      LMAO

    • The Original Just Me September 14th, 2015 at 10:39

Remember, for the most part, this is a reality based conversation.

  4. rg9rts September 14th, 2015 at 05:29

    Bibi was apoplectic

    • The Original Just Me September 14th, 2015 at 10:38

Was, is, and always will be.

  5. AmusedAmused September 14th, 2015 at 12:35

Aww. How magnanimous. This totally makes up for all the Holocaust denial, the sponsorship of terrorist acts against Jewish places of worship around the world, restrictions on Iranian Jews’ freedom of movement, and the promotions of The Protocols as a documentary.

This evil k*** is almost touched.

    • tracey marie September 14th, 2015 at 13:57

what is diffrent about Israels actual terrorism and bombing of mosques, stealing Palistinian lands and killing kids and old people?

      • AmusedAmused September 14th, 2015 at 15:14

Oh? What does Israel have to do with the price of tea in China now? I thought we were talking about Jews. And I hear SO much about how righteous anti-Zionists always — ALWAYS, ya hear? — distinguish between Jews and Israel, and it’s only Zionist monsters who conflate the two because they play the anti-Semites card, for money. Turns out now, I guess, that whole “Jews =/=Israel” and “anti-Israel =/= anti-Jewish” is a whole lotta hoey, huh, weird.

Also, I can’t really fight your logic, Tracie, according to which Israel’s violations prove that it’s totally fair to deny the Holocaust, promote classic anti-semitic canards and hold Iranian Jews (crypto-israelis?) hostage, for justice. Good job, Tracie?

        • tracey marie September 14th, 2015 at 18:59

Israel is not a jewish state that kills palistinians?

    • The Original Just Me September 15th, 2015 at 12:04

We should feel grateful for ANY KIND word. There definitely not enough of them.

  6. maggie September 14th, 2015 at 13:39

    an attempt at diplomacy…it’s a start….don’t knock it…;)

    • AmusedAmused September 14th, 2015 at 15:26

Diplomacy with whom? Jews? A better start would be to distance themselves from Holocaust deniers.

      • arc99 September 14th, 2015 at 16:01

When it comes to the lives of Jews in Iran, I will take the word of Jews who actually live in Iran.

        http://www.npr.org/sections/parallels/2015/02/19/387265766/irans-jews-its-our-home-and-we-plan-to-stay

Iran is a country where people at rallies routinely chant “Death to Israel.” It’s also home to the largest Jewish population in the Middle East outside of Israel and Turkey.

      • maggie September 14th, 2015 at 16:55

I didn’t say that I disagree with you on the facts….however any positive comments should always be welcome…..in diplomacy success is trying….so you don’t dis the effort…you want to encourage more of the same so it leads to the truly watershed changes…..they happen one step at a time….so while no one denies Iran’s anti israel rhetoric/philosophy…any positive comments are a step in the right direction…..the point is to step by step move from a war footing…to a diplomatic footing…and believe it or not israel can be it’s own enemy in this respect ie being in bed with the GOP

        • The Original Just Me September 15th, 2015 at 12:02

Anything positive beats the hell out of all the Negative.

      • The Original Just Me September 15th, 2015 at 12:02

All doors open with a very small crack at first. The door to diplomacy is hard enough to open. Don’t push it shut with OLD pent up feelings.

    • The Original Just Me September 15th, 2015 at 11:59

A start is always a start in the right direction.

  7. amersham46 September 14th, 2015 at 19:19

You do not need to be friends , to respect each other

    • The Original Just Me September 15th, 2015 at 12:06

At the very least, respect the right to each others beliefs. Seven and a half BILLION different beliefs on this rock.
