Krugman: Trump Right On Economcs
Paul Krugman still thinks The Donald is an insufferable ignorant blowhard dogwhistling racism, but has it right on economics.
…am I saying that Mr. Trump is better and more serious than he’s given credit for being? Not at all — he is exactly the ignorant blowhard he seems to be. It’s when it comes to his rivals that appearances can be deceiving. Some of them may come across as reasonable and thoughtful, but in reality they are anything but.
Mr. Bush, in particular, may pose as a reasonable, thoughtful type — credulous reporters even describe him as a policy wonk — but his actual economic platform, which relies on the magic of tax cuts to deliver a doubling of America’s growth rate, is pure supply-side voodoo.
And here’s what’s interesting: all indications are that Mr. Bush’s attacks on Mr. Trump are falling flat, because the Republican base doesn’t actually share the Republican establishment’s economic delusions.
…I’m not making a case for Mr. Trump. There are lots of other politicians out there who also refuse to buy into right-wing economic nonsense, but who do so without proposing to scour the countryside in search of immigrants to deport, or to rip up our international economic agreements and start a trade war. The point, however, is that none of these reasonable politicians is seeking the Republican presidential nomination.

I am not in a field covered by Nobel Prizes, but I am successful in my own right. I don’t subsist on the government or ask it to bail me out. I don’t endorse policies that harm civilized values just because it is politically expedient speech. As far as I’m concerned, Paul Krugman is mentally disabled and anybody who comes to him for advice lacks imagination or is just as stupid.

Civilized values? Right-wingers believe that everyone should be armed to the teeth, and shoot each other over the slightest pretext. They reject science and have stone-age beliefs that the world was created in six days, 6000 years ago. They have savage, primitive ideas about economics that create a feudal order where the rich have everything and everyone else barely have enough to get by.
If this is your idea of “civilization”, count me out.

This is the main reason rumpster is in the lead. Most Americans do not support hedge fund managers paying 14% in taxes while a common blue collar worker pays 28%. Hell, even 50% of the tea party supports a higher minimum wage. As soon as people start paying attention to the rest of the crap rumpster says, his numbers will drop.

As much displeasure as I have with the Republican Party right now, I do hope you are correct. We need ( Bite my tongue. ) the Republican Party. A two party system is needed to balance between Liberal/Progressive and Conservative. BUT, either side MUST be with working intelligence.

I completely agree, we can not be a one party system. We need at least two viable parties otherwise we are no longer a democracy. Third (or second in this case) party candidates never seem to have a reasonable chance to win.

Yes, in order to have a Democracy guided Republic, we need a majority rule. It is almost impossible to reach 50 % when the vote is split three ways. I do believe the Conservative side will collapse in due time just as it has several times in the past. It always rebuilds and for awhile, after restructuring, it does a decent job. But right now, we have outside forces inflecting their warped ideas into the Republican Party. We have got to restructure how candidates finance their campaigns. That in its self is causing a major problem in the U.S. PACS also need to be eliminated IF possible, but under the Free Speech Rule it is doubtful that will ever happen and I do stand behind free Speech.
