Ex-Obama Official Blasts Nikki Haley For Confederate Flag On Day Of Shooting
The Washington Times is outraged that a former Obama Administration official used the church shooting as an opportunity to bash South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley over the display of the Confederate flag in front of the state’s capitol building.
A former Obama administration official used breaking news of a mass shooting at a black South Carolina church Wednesday night to blast Gov. Nikki Haley.
Brandon Friedman, former deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, tweeted an old Talking Points Memo story on the Republican governor’s defense of flying the Confederate flag.
“In October, Gov. Nikki Haley defended flying the Confederate flag outside the South Carolina statehouse,” Mr. Friedman tweeted, The Blaze reported.
Haley defended the Confederate flag, stating that it has no bearing on all the jobs CEOs want to bring to her state.
Haley’s answer was in response to questions in October about her defense of flying the Confederate flag, a symbol of racism and treason, over the statehouse. “What I can tell you is over the last three and a half years, I spent a lot of my days on the phones with CEOs and recruiting jobs to this state. I can honestly say I have not had one conversation with a single CEO about the Confederate flag,” she said.
I think there are plenty of people who would hold the GOP of South Carolina accountable for promoting hate in the state, simply by allowing such a horrible symbol of the pro-slavery Antebellum South to be displayed in this supposedly ‘post-racial’ America.

Maybe the governor never had a conversation with a CEO who was looking to expand in SC about the Confederate flag is because those CEOs don’t know that it’s still a thing. I’m fairly certain that if she had brought up the fact that the Confederate flag flies from the Capitol, they’re reaction might be along the lines of “LOL! Whut?!?!?”
