Mark Halperin Defends Mike Huckabee’s Supreme Court Idiocy

Former Arkansas Governor and current Republican presidential wishful Mike Huckabee delivered a Hucked up civics lesson over the weekend when he told Fox News Sunday’s Chris Wallace that the Supreme Court’s rulings are more sort of guidelines, really, and that nothing is constitutional until all three branches of government agree on it. That’s an actual quote. “We are sworn to uphold the Constitution and law,” Huckabee said, adding “And it has to be consistent and agreed upon with three branches of government — one can’t overrule the other two.”

Apparently, young Huckabee was off raiding the fridge in between Grape Ape and Funky Phantom, because anyone who’s ever watched Schoolhouse Rock knows that’s exactly the opposite of how the branches of government work. Our system of checks and balances depends entirely on the ability of each branch to overrule the other. Chris Wallace did his level best to introduce Huckabee to the concept of judicial review, but there are only so many minutes in a segment.

As ridiculous as Huckabee’s explanation was, though, it doesn’t hold a candle to the goings-on at MSNBC’s Morning Joe, where the gang played some of Huckabee’s remarks, and even Joe Scarborough was obliged to patiently explain things to Huckabee. Enter Mark Halperin, Managing Editor of Bloomberg Politics, to bring crucial “objectivity” to the discussion…READ MORE

This is exactly why I feel any clergy should not be allowed to hold a political position of any kind…where is their real/true allegiance? The Constitution or their religion? If there is a conflict they will have to choose one to be untrue to.

Agreed, I’m no longer of religious order but I do have a depth of experience in it from my youth and adolescence. Looking back I found it to be helpful but ultimately no different than an eggshell to a bird.

Now that being said I will recite scripture.

Matthew 6:24 “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye
cannot serve God and mammon”. ( Mammon being one of the seven princes of hell. He watches over greed and material wealth which can obviously be shunted over to political power. If you believe in such things as monsters)

Yeeesh tapping into that dusty part of my brain, it’s like trying to remember old D&D rules.

chris wallace did his best only to be introduced to a ” supreme being ” by mike huckabee

this is one of many reasons to thank short segments on live tv.. I could see this conversation getting real ugly with a touch of vulgar reality towards mike

Mark started slipping a few years ago and I put it down to his spending waay too much time on that idiot “show” and listening to Old Joe equate everything to “when I was in congress”.

I didn’t like him before, but ever since Halperin referred to the president as a “dick” on national TV and pretty much got away with it, I’ve considered him a jackass not worth listening to. My former civics students probably remember more about how the federal government operates than either Huckabee or Halperin. These jackasses, along with Ben Carson, seem to think that if they believe a certain thing about the government, that is the way it should be. Ignorant asses.

This is how Delusional and Constitutionally illiterate GOP bubbleheads are, regarding their own Conservative majority SCOTUS’ 2014 equal marriage ruling upholding the 10th & 14th Amendments! OMFG!

    He’s still talking?

His point was made, and his base will eat it up. He is setting the stage for a culture war like we haven’t seen in a long time, depending on the SCOTUS ruling. They are angry and desperate now, but their last grasp at this issue will be done with razor sharp claws.

Oh my word. Another Constitutional scholar. *cough* *cough* *gag* Even my ten year old knows checks and balance. Moron. Next he’ll say we’re a parliamentary system.
