Poll: Americans Prefer Gay President To Evangelical Christian

American would be more comfortable with a gay president than an evangelical Christian.

The WSJ/NBC poll offered a list of qualities in a potential presidential candidate, asking respondents whether they would “be enthusiastic,” “be comfortable with,” “have some reservations about” or “be very uncomfortable with” a candidate with each of those qualities.

The results revealed that Americans are actually quite open to having a gay presidential candidate. Sixty-one percent said they would be either enthusiastic about or comfortable with a gay or lesbian candidate, while only 37 percent said they would have reservations or be uncomfortable.

By comparison, respondents were a little less comfortable with the prospect of a candidate who is an evangelical Christian. Fifty-two percent said they’d be enthusiastic about or comfortable with an evangelical Christian running for president, while 44 percent expressed some degree of hesitancy about the idea.

How about a gay evangelical?

    What has being gay or evangelical got to do with anything here? The litmus test should be whether the candidate would start to finally govern according to what the Constitution actually says, not what they think it means.

      That’s a nice thought, but the evangelicals have demonstrated they don’t believe in following the constitution, they want to impose various biblical rules on a secular country.

    Does that mean Miss Lindsey has a chance? He could team up with Aaron Schock and be the “Ambiguously Gay Ticket.” And prove themselves to be just as viable a duo as Romney-Paul and McCain-Palin.

    I am an evangelical Christian and I’m uncomfortable with with an evangelical president.

    Too many evangelicals are not critical thinkers. GW Bush is a case in point.

    Honestly, this doesn’t surprise me. Even those that don’t agree with a homosexual’s lifestyle, know that an Evangelical Christian would have a far better chance of pushing us into WWIII.

    Or, for a female president, all things being equal, would we prefer a candidate with ‘C’ cups or ‘D’ cups?
