Fargo Cafe Banned Republicans

In the fight for gay rights, a cafe in Fargo, ND decided it would ban Republicans.

A worker-owner of a Fargo coffee shop who instituted a tongue-in-cheek ban on North Dakota lawmakers for opposing an anti-discrimination bill says the response has been “99.9% positive” and that he made his point, even if a few people didn’t like it.

Joe Curry, one of the worker-owners of the Red Raven Espresso Parlor, posted a newspaper page in the shop earlier this month that showed the 55 Republican state House members who rejected a bill that would have prohibited discrimination based on sexual orientation in housing, government, public services and the workplace. It was accompanied by a sign saying the legislators were banned “unless accompanied by a lesbian, gay, bisexual or transsexual, queer, intersex or asexual person”…

State representative Josh Boschee, a Red Raven regular and the state’s only openly gay lawmaker, said he didn’t like the tactic.

“I understand that they are trying to make a point, but I would have done it differently,” the Fargo Democrat said.
Republican state representative Jim Kasper, a local who voted against the legislation, said he’s never been in the coffee shop because he doesn’t get downtown much. He also took the ban seriously and went as far as to support the premise.

“They have the perfect right to refuse anyone they want,” Kasper said.

“They have the perfect right to refuse anyone they want,” (GOP Jim) Kasper said.

Is the State going to be held financially liable when acts of violence are perpetrated against the owners/workers of these discriminating establishments? It’s going to be more than a fat lip when a conflict arises, someone will come back with a gun.

Republicans hate it when their crap comes back to bite them in the butt.

So how is this ban different from refusing to bake a cake?
They both deny someone a service for what they believe.

If they want it to be OK to discriminate…be prepared to suffer the consequences.

dude was being sarcastic with his ban, using it to point out the fact that both things are the same…. and the fact that i have to spell this out for an adult makes me lose a little more of my faith in humanity

        His “joke” proves the point.
Why are some beliefs and rights able to trump other beliefs and rights?
Rights specifically addressed in our constitution.

And they are both refusing to do something they will never be asked to do. One of them facetiously.

What a great way to demonstrate to these knuckleheads exactly what is wrong with their so called “religious freedom” laws.
