Slow March: 126,000 Jobs Added

Posted by | April 3, 2015 10:00 | Filed under: Economy Politics Top Stories

March was worse than expected.

The U.S. only added 126,000 jobs in March, the lowest since December 2013 and well below the CNNMoney economist survey forecast of 244,000.

The unemployment rate remained the same at 5.5%.

Perhaps the biggest disappointment is that wage growth stayed sluggish. Average hourly earnings went up only 2.1% over last year. The goal is to see 3.5% — or better — wage growth. To put that another way, Americans made $24.34 an hour a year ago. That only bumped up to $24.86 an hour now…

Everyone from Main Street to the White House to the Federal Reserve will be watching to see if March was just a winter blip in an otherwise improving economy or if it’s a sign of a turning point.

    Along with that we have a record 93,175,000 people not working at all. That’s with 12,202,000 black citizens and 56,131,000 women out of jobs. Good going Barack!

      Tater, ye of the Flaming Poo and lowest level of DingDong Ditch..

      You should thank Obama. If he weren’t there, things woulda been worse. But, I assure you, I expect nothing like facts or reality will delay you from the swift completion of your appointed fecal rounds.

      another lie of omission from the low information right winger.

      I think it is no accident that the whole truth is never present in any of your posts, or for that matter, the posts of most other psychotic Obama-haters. I am getting a clearer picture of how Republican politicians get elected. Anyone stupid enough to take at face value the misinformation you post in this forum, is likely to vote Republican. Those of us who take the time to ascertain facts for ourselves, know better.

      Not that facts matter to you. Your constant lying demonstrates that. But I would like to share with the rest of the forum that your number is a substantiated fact. But as usual, the spin fed to you by whatever radio entertainer you listen to and which you dutifully parrot in this forum, is a steaming pile of dishonest bullsh*t.

      According to the BLS, the aging of the baby boom generation is a key factor affecting the labor force participation rate:

      “The baby boomers’ exit from the prime-aged workforce and their movement into older age groups will lower the overall labor force participation rate, leading to a slowdown in the growth of the labor force,” explains the BLS.

      Excluding retirees (baby boomers), it is a vast improvement over the worst track record in history;
