Sean Penn On Cheney: ‘Embittered Bacteria Of Humanity’
Penn wondered aloud how Dick Cheney kept living, despite serious health problems, while someone as “beautiful” as Harvey Milk was cut down.
Penn appeared Wednesday on Conan O’Brien’s talk show, where he heard the host bring up the former vice president during his monologue.
“You mentioned Dick Cheney, this kind of, you know, embittered bacteria of humanity,” Penn said. “It’s always a surprise to me to remember that, through bionic technology and so on, this guy’s still here.”
Cheney, who has had five heart attacks since 1978, underwent a heart transplant in 2012.
“But then we have people like Harvey Milk, who were beautiful, brilliant, impactful guys, and, you know – it’s just no good deed will go unpunished, and then you’ve got the Cheneys,” said Penn, who played the slain LGBT rights activist and San Francisco city supervisor. “This is just me musing.”
Penn credited Cheney and his boss for inspiring the brutal Islamic State extremist group sowing terror in the Middle East.
“These are the guys, he and President (George W.) Bush and some others, who invented Daesh, or ISIS,” Penn said. “I mean, they really are that which created it, and so I wanted to give him a shout-out. Thanks for that.”

“Dick Cheney, this kind of, you know, embittered bacteria of humanity,”
Dear Mr. Penn;
Your insensitive comparison and outrageous attack on our character will not go unchallenged. Expect to be hearing from our attorneys.

“Cheney says Clinton ‘bears responsibility’ for Benghazi”
“Cheney weighed in on Benghazi last night, saying the Sept. 11, 2012 attack on a U.S. diplomatic mission in Libya was “one of the worst incidences” he could recall.”
Apparently this cretin’s memory is extremely short, since he and his puppet Dubya were responsible for nearly 3,000 deaths on 9/11 alone.
William March 19th, 2015 at 12:07
Yep.
Larry Schmitt March 19th, 2015 at 13:29
After all, we didn’t get attacked by Martians. Shouldn’t that count for something?
Larry Schmitt March 19th, 2015 at 13:46
I heard some of my ultra-conservative friends say almost exactly what he says in his first quote. I didn’t know how to reply to that.
William March 19th, 2015 at 15:55
” I didn’t know how to reply to that”
Don’t. Let them go, you cannot help them

And yet without a liberal (who was the greatest president of the 20th century), good ole Winston and his countrymen and women would be speaking German.

On April 18, 1983, with President Ronald Reagan in office, a suicide bomber drove
a truck into the US Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon. The resulting blast killed 63
people, 17 of whom were Americans, including top CIA personnel.
This incident is still the most deadly terrorist attack on American diplomatic ground. Not even the 13 that happened under GWB’s and Dick Cheney’s watch.
And
just 6 months later, on October 23, 1983, another bomber drove a truck of
explosives into a US Marine compound in Beirut, killing over 240 servicemen.
Despite the fact that Congress was controlled by Democrats, the White House was
not blamed for the attack. The Democratic Speaker of the House, Tip O’Neill,
ordered a hearing and investigation—just one.
The investigation concluded, finding that “very serious errors in judgment were
made”, and the document suggested urgent security measures for President Reagan to implement overseas. Just 5 months after the report was written, in March of 1984, another US annex was bombed in Beirut. The CIA’s station chief, Bill Buckley, was kidnapped, tortured and murdered. In the wake of this THIRD
TRAGEDY IN BEIRUT IN EIGHTEEN MONTHS, Congress didn’t hold any hearings. All of the culpability went to the perpetrators, not our government.
Now, as you can see, “cut and run” Reagan did nothing and was not held
accountable for the lack of security and/or the deaths of so many Americans so
you can see how he, unlike Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, hated America,
especially the military. There is further evidence of this:
Without any retaliatory action, he pulled the US out of Lebanon. We live with this decision today. As we ran from the region, Osama bin Laden, the terrorist killed by the man who loves America, Barack Obama, noted how America had lost its courage and will to fight.
This was the moment he decided that America could be attacked easily.
He was right; he only had to wait for another cowardly republican. He was right.

I agree with Penn.
But even if this guy was dead, there are still a lot of right wing lunies out there to fill the vacuum. For and example the merger between capitalism and christianity.
This is not about one dick head, this is about a mindset that is infecting this country.
Larry Schmitt March 19th, 2015 at 13:28
I thought USB meant something completely different.
jybarz March 19th, 2015 at 13:38
That’s right, Sean Penn, don’t just beat around Bush…. beat all the bastards with him especially Dick-head Chenney.
Bunya March 19th, 2015 at 13:58
If you ask me, Sean Penn is being very gracious when he refers to Cheney as merely an “embittered bacteria of humanity”. I have a few choice comparisons of my own for Cheney, many of which are not fit to print.
Larry Schmitt March 19th, 2015 at 14:04
Nor are they fit for basic cable.

In my opinion, that is a soft-spoken, restrained description of Cheney.

That eventuality has already been addressed by the parks department.

John Tarter March 19th, 2015 at 20:07
This guy should talk. His hero’s are the late Hugo Chavez who destroyed his country through leftist policies and the Castro brothers whose human rights record is slightly better than Iran’s.
arc99 March 19th, 2015 at 20:26
Penn has a lot more moral standing to criticize Cheney than draft-dodging pedophile Ted Nugent has to attack anyone’s patriotism.
Larry Schmitt March 19th, 2015 at 20:26
His hero’s? His hero’s what?
William March 19th, 2015 at 21:05
Tater, a member of the faction who spends evenings with a poster of Putin and a bottle of baby oil is upset that Sean Penn liked Hugo Chavez. Go figure huh?
OldLefty March 19th, 2015 at 20:37
And he’s talking about someone who’s heros are Agusto Pinochet, Ngo Dinh Diem , Zia
ul -Haq, Anastasio Somoza Sr and Jr., Alfredo Cristiani Vinicio Cerezo, Sir
Hassanal Bolkiah , Halie P. W. Botha , The Shah of Iran, Gen Francisco Franco , Antonio de Oliveira and Saddam.
Sean Penn STILL comes out on the moral high ground.
John Tarter March 19th, 2015 at 21:04
Penn is an idiot and a hypocrite. He extolls the virtues of un-bridled socialism but would never subject himself to living under such a system. He could give 90% of his money away and move to Caracas or Havana in with the last 10%. Put your money where your mouth is Mr. Penn.
OldLefty March 19th, 2015 at 21:43
That’s what WE say about Cheney.
He extolls the virtues of un-bridled capitalism but would never subject himself to living under such a system.
He lives under a system of un-bridled socialism for corporations and the well connected.
dave-dr-gonzo March 19th, 2015 at 23:34
Actually, no. Cheney extols the virtues of unbridled welfare for the petroleum and defense industries but would never subject himself to live like the lower 99%.
OldLefty March 20th, 2015 at 07:16
Agreed, nor would he subject himself to serve in the wars he advocated for.
StoneyCurtisll March 19th, 2015 at 22:27
Looks like someone needs a Hugg~!
William March 19th, 2015 at 20:44
OK Skippy, before I reset my “Time until Tater writes something stupid” meter, I’ll always remember Chavez as the guy who stepped up to the plate to help Americans when American petroleum wouldn’t.

John Tarter March 19th, 2015 at 21:00
Hey, it’s not what he did to us, it’s what he did to his country. The place is a basket case now with it’s petroleum industry on the ropes, and long lines for the basics like food and toilet paper. Of course, the socialist elites don’t stand on line – they eat regular and have all the butt wipe they need. It is example # 1 that socialism is a total and complete failure. That is our future if you leftists ever implement those kind of policies here.
Obewon March 19th, 2015 at 21:48
“it’s petroleum industry on the ropes”-Tarter, not many nowadays want Greedy Oil Polluters destroying their water, air, peoples health, wildlife and the Earth’s environmental ecosystems!
That’s why Oil tanked to $44/brl and you can’t even give it away at that price :)
Every day another 1.5 M barrels of unsold oil is stored. Europe’s oil storage is nearly full and so are the U.S. storage facilities!
Face it. That crap is being phased out faster than you can say ‘We were attacked on 9/11/01 by the Bush / Cheney, Rice, PNAC Saudi Arabian RWNJ 2%-Wahabi cartel.’ It’s great that Keystoner Boehner’s unprofitable KXL expansion failed!
StoneyCurtisll March 19th, 2015 at 22:34
(cough)..
Venezuela has the largest known oil reserves on the planet..
They are hardly “on the ropes” when it comes petroleum.
And perhaps you can point out a time when Venezuela was ever a thriving economic powerhouse and free from human rights violations before, as you suggest Hugo Chavez “ruined it” for everybody.
William March 20th, 2015 at 00:20
“Hey, it’s not what he did to us, it’s what he did to his country”…
So the racist truck driver who supports a party that plunged us into an unfunded two front war over WMD’s that didn’t exist, collapsed the economy, presided over rampant job loss and the degradation of the US as a world power is…SUDDENLY..
outraged over the leadership prowess of a dead Venezuelan dictator.
Lets talk about socialism for a moment.
You clowns have been calling my President a socialist since before he was elected.
Based upon the successes of my President, we must therefore conclude that socialism works.
We must also assume that the GOP absolutely loves Eric Holder, as they are actively delaying every and all efforts to replace him.
If you’re going to carry water for the crazy party Skippy. You need to think things through before you press that post icon.
tiredoftea March 19th, 2015 at 21:07
But, way better than ours.
