Jim Webb Likely To Jump Into Prez Race

The former Virginia senator and Navy secretary has made a move that clearly points to a presidential run with the hiring of a high-caliber operative:

“Glad to report that Rania Batrice is joining our team as senior political adviser, including coordinating Iowa,” Webb said in a statement shared with The Des Moines Register Monday night.

He would be a long shot with tough odds against the heavy Democratic favorite former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Webb, a Vietnam War veteran who served as U.S. Secretary of the Navy under Ronald Reagan, is solidly left but voted at times with Republicans during his four years in the U.S. Senate, representing Virginia from 2007 to 2013.

As he eyes a White House bid, he’s appealing to the center of the 2016 electorate, talking about economic fairness, foreign policy, national infrastructure and a government where people from both political parties “work together for the common good.”

To date, he hasn’t made much of a footprint in Iowa, but he has tasked Batrice, who will be based in Des Moines, to help fix that.

“I will be managing Iowa operations as well as advising Senator Webb in other areas as he continues exploring answering the call again and throwing his hat in the ring,’ Batrice, a Texas native, told the Register.

Jim Webb is “solidly left”? Since when? He’s only “solidly left” if you compare him to the Republican right-wing extremist freaks.

As much as I respect Webb, he’ll have to convince me that he’s really “solidly left” before I consider him.

He would be able to get more swing votes then Hillary, but she will energize the base much more then he could.

I think it’s pretty well known that Webb is a DINO. Personally, I don’t think he stands a chance, but his campaigning may turn out to be entertaining.

Is he presidential material? Could be, but has to be better than the clown car of Republicans that are also considering to run.
