Tip For The Rich: Don’t Build Mansion Near Cliff

Posted by | March 18, 2015 02:30 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Pot Luck Top Stories

Things might go seriously wrong:

A huge crack in a cliff is threatening a luxury mansion at the same Texas spot where another vacation house had to be burnt down last year because it was so unstable.

There are now concerns that this home in a gated community could also collapse and crumble into Lake Whitney about 60 miles south of Fort Worth.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers told NBC says it is ‘very concerned with public safety’ in light of the new crack.

Neighbor Steve Mellgren told WFAA: ‘It’s getting larger… it’s getting wider… it’s getting deeper.’

He said recent rains have seen the crack open even further.

‘If it does happen… if anybody’s near this cliff… it’s going to be a problem for them,’ he said.

Nicely understated. ‘Nuff said.

Some folks have more money than sense. Mr. Webb has a home in Miami Beach too. I’ll bet he’s repairing monthly flood damage in that one! I liked the line in the story about the Corp of Engineers keeping the area safe until the danger subsided (no pun intended). The danger wont’ “subside” until that fault block slides off into the lake. That should be interesting to watch. I hope there’s video.

Hey, these are self made rugged individualists! Why was the Army Corp of Engineers called?

    • Roctuna March 18th, 2015 at 11:01

The corp is responsible for the dams and general support of the lakes and reservoirs like Lake Whitney.

Typical of the conservative elite. They build exclusive estates on the sea shore, or the lake front, then, when Mother Nature does her thing, and the shore line erodes, they want the tax payer to help them keep their property values up. wonder what those in Miami will do when the sea level rises enough to washout their luxury digs.
