With a lone gunman still holding people hostage in a Lindt cafe in Sydney, Australia, thousands of messages of support have been posted online for Muslims who are in fear of an Islamophobic backlash.
Australians are showing the world how it’s done in the midst of chaos.
Thousands of supportive tweets have poured in. But it began with one tweet, from one person with an idea, then it went viral.

Love wins again.
I lived in Manhattan when our city was bombed. The following morning I had no idea what had happened. Our television stations were rendered inoperable after the attack, but I had a terrible feeling in my gut. I went outside with my BFF.
Everyone was in shock. After we found out what happened, we went into our neighborhood store to buy some coffee. The Muslim owner of the store, just like others in the area, shaved his beard and his wife was no longer wearing her scarf.
I asked my friend why he cut his beard off. He said, “We’re afraid of being judged because maniacs attacked the World Trade Center.” I said, “Everyone loves you around here. I don’t think you have to worry.” He said, “Not everyone loves their fellow man, my sister.”
I’ve never forgotten that conversation.

curious, all the bashing of the nra and tpoopers, and the open carry nuts but if one were to step back and see the whole panorama one might become sensitive to the grumblings of a revolution against the established govt of the usa, This stuff tends to fester before it fully ignites. Just popped into my head the other day while strolling along the edge of a crater on the moon.

America claims to be the greatest nation on earth.
Clearly, we have a great deal to learn about “greatness” from the rest of the world.
The contrast is very stark. In this country, the internet was used to demonize all Muslim citizens and residents of this country based on the actions of a tiny few.
In Australia, the internet was used to show solidarity with Muslim citizens and residents in recognition that this criminal is in fact just one person.
Pay attention America, especially those of you who count yourselves among the faithful audiences of FOX and Rush. Learn how the people of a great and civilized nation are supposed to behave.
